Again....Good. I would have preferred POTUS visit. I know a POTUS or 2 that would have. Why POTUS did not do so on the recent Asia trip is odd.
As to the Red Chinese blahblah, War is also good for the economy, so.....
What are they going to do, yell and scream about the money the U.S. owes? I have a solution. Don't pay anything anymore to the Red Chinese for anything, and inform Red China that anything made in Red China is no longer welcome. Suck their economic superiority out of them. AND, stop sending RED China food, medicine and business. AND, inform our Corporations that their business with the U.S. is no longer welcome if they continue business with Red China.
There was a time the Western World had self dignity and self respect and earned respect from the World. It is time to reintroduce that long absent position.
Oh, I almost forgot: everything I state applies to the Soviet Union also.

Almost forgot...come home, Hong Kong Tim, before you get your azz blown off, or stay there since you can't abide the U.S. (but darn sure take take take whatever you can from the U.S. for you and yours). The U.S. won't be sending you a plane, so......

We made them an economic powerhouse and we could destroy their economy if the West stuck together and refused to trade with them. They are our biggest enemy, and we should start treating them as such.

Japan faced the same oil/gas issues in the late 30s. That did not work out to well for Japan.

This is the usual NYT baloney and attempt to redefine the daily world situation. That article is fraught with BS. Maybe NYT should refer to the Truman speech concerning who owns Taiwan, at atime that Red China had openly prepared for invasion. The only thing that stopped it was the opening of the Korean War, and the U.S. positioning of the 7th Fleet in the Strait. The U.S. positioned a military response again, in 54, 58 and 95, all a result of the Red Chinese blahblah. anad here we are. So.... The looming crisis has been a looming crisis since 49, and is a civil war, rivaled only in length of time by the UK/Ireland Troubles. While NYT makes the Benjamins in this new 21st Century by printing titillating gotcha stories, all that does is disseminate false knowledge. As to all this flag waving stuff, if any recent POTUS was not posturing on the subject of Freedom and Democracy and was honorable in their convictions, why did we allow the Hong Kong change of government? It wouldn't have anything to do with agreement to the British Contract, would it? Why didn't we follow thru with Neutrality in Ukraine? We certainly had every opportunity to do so, from the mid 90s until this past year. We didn't because it was not in the interest of the political monetary spending football game. How quickly the NYT forgets POTUS Eisenhower considering deploying a nuclear response during the Taiwan crisis on his watch. Why didn't we defend Hungary? The way forward is to disentangle our economic interests from those of Red China. Will there be a $ hit and not pleasant period of recovery for the U.S. for many years, doing so? Yes, of course. What the hell do we have now, with the 5.6 Trillion ADDED to the debt in the past 2.5 years 930 trillion now?) which supports Red China economically and allows Red China to continue to invest in the U.S businesses and physical land- our breadbasket farms for everything from wheat to tomatoes and every know fruit, and our cattle ranches, our housing lands, our waterways, defense corporations and the Fortune 100. Crisis looming? Of course. It is the POGO syndrome, we are the enemy. We let it happen. It is also a mental strain followed by a continuous sigh to listen/read/hear about the waddaareyagonnado hand wringing about Taiwan chip manufacturing. We have a response, from an ally we rescued from Red China and the Soviet Union-South Korea and Samsung, investing 30 Billion to start producing same on U.S. soil...which, I might add, FB/Amazon/Netflix/Google to name a few, could have invested and started to do same years ago, and the same goes for our computer giants and our fossil fuel giants, had the subject dear to these great capitalist corporations been inclined to do so, instead of pursuing false low cost manufacturing in Red China AND the Soviet Union, that has established an Ideology of Division in the Free World, in politics, financial institutions and the military. Anything else? I am here until my death, and glad to assist.

I remember with perfect clarity when the Walton family proudly proclaimed over and over: All our Goods are made in the U.S.! It catapulted their coffers to "hey that is a lot of money" heights.
It is time to change their boastful salesmanship to: "Welcome Red China to the Ownership of The Walton Family."

This sort of makes sense to me. The other theory is Russia supplying the energy China needs to survive. That's about all Russia has to export now after the sanctions.

That's exactly what that post means, I think. The US is trying to appease China to decouple China from Russia to crush Russia. So who do the Chinese need more? Russia or the US?

The US is trying to appease China to decouple China from Russia to crush Russia. So who do the Chinese need more? Russia or the US? It's a good question. This video the-comic-book-forum.boards.net/post/89952/thread says that if its main trade route was blocked, China would only survive 90 days before it ran out of energy. So it may be a short term vs long term issue. But it appears China and Russia have already made their pact. We'll have to see how long it lasts.
