Hello everyone. I just mailed a Batman Adventures #12 in for grading and pressing. I had a few questions. I thought I paid for shipping. When I took it in the the Post Office they said I should have received a bar code. Did I pay for shipping for them to send it back to me? Also, I read a few posts of a thread on pressing. Is it not good to have a comic pressed? I did it thinking it would help the value. Is it too late to cancel the pressing if it is frowned upon among collectors? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Welcome to the forum! First off, what grading company did you send the book to, and are you using their in-house pressing service? My opinions on pressing aside, seeing photos of the book would give us a good idea if the condition or eye appeal would improve from pressing.

You pay shipping both ways, but CGC is not involved when you ship it to them. Your CC isn't charged until the grades are finalized iirc? Pressing is accepted as "unrestored" so no worries. Pressing can still be controversial and I freaking hate it and will never press a comic but hey, this thread's not about me

I sent it to CGC. A friend of mine told me he sold his ungraded for around $250. I thought if mine was graded it may add value to it, then I saw the pressing option and thought “Why not.”, but then saw the thread here and I am having second thoughts.

There are a lot of people who don't approve of pressing, but realistically that ship has sailed. Everyone is doing it now to maximize value. This is the outcome when small changes in grade realize exponential changes in value.
