So when should we call a book rare..? Well how about when only 8-9 copies are known to exist and the comic actually was never sold or handed out..?
So here we have MOTION PICTURE FUNNIES WEEKLY (April 1939) This was a 36 page comic that was designed to be given away at Theaters , but it never happened. Only a very few copies were made and believed to be what the salesman showed Theater owners. Over all this book has a Great History behind it. But there is also a little more. This comic has an 8 Page Origin and introduction of a soon to be Timely character - The Sub-Mariner.. The story was written by, drawn by, inked by and lettered by Bill Everett . When Marvel Comics #1 came out a little later , the 1st 8 pages of the 12 page Sub-Mariner story was reprinted from this comic. So this is the true 1st appearance of Sub-Mariner.
I hope you enjoy reading the story as it 1st appeared in 1939. If you are lucky enough to have an Original of this comic, feel free to send it to me. I mean its not a new comic variant or a comic with 147 different covers,,,so who wants it ..Seriously I hope you enjoy this great piece of Comic Book History - Have a great weekend everybody ~ Rick
