1st cameo, from a one-panel video screen shot (Jimmy Olsen #134) to a multi-paneled, interactive story (X-Men Annual 14) = 1st appearance in my book. The label reflects Tec 523 as the 1st appearance. Whatever follows that is just an adjective It is odd that the two shadowed cameos are being treated so differently .

That article is dumb. Bats #357 isn't valuable because of Croc. It's valuable...and has been for 30+ years...because it's the first appearance of pre-Crisis Jason Todd. Jason Todd, of course, is far, farrrrr more important to the Batman mythos than Croc was, is, or ever could be.

Still beats the "first appearance" of Oracle.

Yeah, that's like saying people buy Iron Man #55 for the first appearance of The Blood Brothers

Found one of mine, did a panel count. As expected, there's more than just the one. Croc appears in 6 panels altogether. No face, though.
An admittedly weak appearance, but most definitely NOT the "single panel" explanation.
Frankly...Jason Todd only appears in 2 panels, and only from afar. #357 shouldn't be the important book for either of them. Maybe 'Tec #524 or #525.

Reading the "Key Collector" post again, it isn't clear what he's saying, because he makes no mention of a panel count at all. Probably should have mentioned that, since that is, undoubtedly, why CGC makes the call that it does. While I appreciate the "no face reveal", I think it misses the forest for the trees...as mentioned, it's the first appearance of JT.
