I like the Golden Rod suggestion. I don't mind brown at all, but the orange red color strikes me as too bold. I like a softer orange. The salmon or coral might be nice if you don't want to go full-on pink. Green for the new(er) folks makes a lot of sense to me. Maybe we should have a transparent font and everyone change their avatar to the little AF#15 thumbnail. That would be fun.

5000-9999 = pink It's funny you mention pink. I was on a forum several years ago and was joking about having pink as my color and the admin changed my username to pink. I was the only one in pink on the entire forum. Be a real shame if that happened here. A real shame

Did you spend a lot of time insisting it was actually "salmon"...?

No. Everyone started to refer to me as Mr Pink.

No. Everyone started to refer to me as Mr Pink. That's cool. There was a time in my life when I was called Mr Pink... Because (apparently) I looked like Mr Pink. Who knew? All that time I thought I looked like Brad Pitt...

Okay, changes have taken effect. You can change the colors below. If necessary, we'll take a poll. 5,000 to 9,999 - Bold/Saddle Brown EXAMPLE10,000 to 19,999 - Bold/Medium Sea Green EXAMPLEIf you want to change them, check the website below and give me the hex code for both. Keep in mind that some colors look too dark or too light in practice to work. Also, you can't use black. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colorsSo here's the suggestions so far: Bats10,000 - 19,999 Bold/ dark slate grey
* I think this might be too close in color to black/blue that the forum uses to stand out. Siggy5,000 to 9,999 Orange is better than brown. * This might work, but in practice it might be too close to the red used for Admin/Mods. Not sure.

Can we at least keep the golden rod...?

Or... how about you get to choose your own colour when you reach 5,000 posts?
And you get to choose again at each 5,000.

We can deal with 20K and above later. I'm fine with any colors you guys like for the two categories above, but they have to have enough contrast to stand out or they'll get lost (I know this because I've experimented with tons of colors here already). From what I'm hearing, maybe the green needs to be a little darker and the brown needs to be slightly brighter (possibly a little orangish)? Or you guys can pick completely new colors. But they have to stand out (have enough contrast) from the blue/black AND each other.

And you get to choose again at each 5,000. It's too difficult on that scale. I have to modify the code and create a new member group for each color used here. It's not easy. I could do it on a one-off for a contest winner though. For example, we could have a Comic Book Scavenger Hunt winner get a special color for some period of time, with winners rotating in and out of that color group.

There aren't really that many colours to choose from that are distinctly different from each other and/or won't get lost on the background.
This is dim grey but it's too light. Scrap that.
Maroon instead of brown? I prefer this. It's a bit different from red.
How about teal instead of green? It's a bit blue. Or dark green?

How about teal instead of green? It's a bit blue. Or dark green? Maroon - I think that would work. Teal - I think that might work (maybe a bit lighter version though, it's very close to the forum blue). Dark Green - I've tried it before and it seemed too dark for good contrast. 0 to 999 - No Bold/Normal Color EXAMPLE1,000 to 4,999 - Bold/Normal Color EXAMPLE5,000 to 9,999 - Bold/Saddle Brown EXAMPLE10,000 to 19,999 - Bold/Medium Sea Green EXAMPLE
