So last week I posted 2 new music videos from System of a Down. Kind of a big deal since people have been waiting for 15 years from new music from one of the largest new rock bands of the last 20 years. A political discussion ensued and I got dinged for 3 weeks because of it.
This is ridiculous. If I post Neil Young's Ohio will I get a perma - ban? I've emailed higher ups at CGC and am asking for some clarification.
Well, I finally emailed Harshen, Dena and the CEO of Collector's Society to ask for some clarification about my latest ban about 2 weeks ago.
I got a call from Harshen to discuss it. It sounded positive, he offered a suggestion and he asked me for some but it's been over a week since our conversation and I have no heard anything, been reinstated or given any feedback.
I emailed back after a week to ask if there was any progress. He said he'd look into it. No reply. The world has changed people, and it's not for the better IMO.
It makes little sense to me that he would take time to contact you and then not provide follow-up. Seems remarkably unproductive, but possibly he’s got day to day things taking priority. I say the above because I don’t know what, if any prior relationship you have with him. Sorry if the grammar above is wrong. I’m drawing a blank as to where or if the comma’s go or are needed.

I've known Harshen for over a decade and I'm a regular submitter. He's CGC's operations manager.
I have no idea why he contacted me but didn't really follow up. I assume it was just meant as a PR move to cool my jets and to provide an official follow up since I CC'd the CEO in on the eamil. At point I can't think of any other reason.
And just to be clear, I was polite and was asking for some clarity on why moderation is so strict.
It's just the way of the world in every business, it seems. Those that can get away with whatever they can get away with will continue to get away with it. The only way that changes is if there is some stiff competition.

The new board upgrade accidentally outted their secret Mods Quite a bit of excitement there for several hours. Maybe this is a first step towards some changes in how the boards(it’s members) are moderated?

"I have family members that live within an hour's drive of CGC's office can I sign up pay for the submissions for my comics and mail them to my cousin have my cousin drop them off on for me on my behalf for me to CGC to have them graded and then have them shipped back to me after the grading process is done?"

"Here's the thing. I didn't say that (sniping) was morally or ethically wrong. I said that <I> don't like it, because I feel it's not fair to people who have poor Internet service or circumstances that keep them from sitting in front of their computer for the last 15 minutes of the auction. Some examples of circumstances would be work, family commitments or emergencies, or just the time of day."

I was going to “laugh” at the comment “how is it easier?” or reply with something like “You’ve heard the phrase ‘addition by subtraction’? This is the opposite of that”, but then thought better of it. I don’t want to draw undue attention or appear to be mocking or belittling, but I am bewildered by posts like these. "Here's the thing. I didn't say that (sniping) was morally or ethically wrong. I said that <I> don't like it, because I feel it's not fair to people who have poor Internet service or circumstances that keep them from sitting in front of their computer for the last 15 minutes of the auction. Some examples of circumstances would be work, family commitments or emergencies, or just the time of day." I can appreciate the sentiment, and I suppose this is why it’s said “life’s not fair”. I’ve had a couple days recently where construction outside has caused my download speed to fall in the 5-6 Mbps range making my internet connection drag. It’s not fair. Anyway, an auction is open when it’s open and fair game for bidders.

The names that show up in the post look like a copy/paste from the CGC “Blocked Buyer’s List” thread. I think it was B2D326 who went back through the thread and compiled an updated list sometime in 2019, I just haven’t gone searching for it. I think to maintain the integrity of such a list(if that’s possible) we’d need to maintain it similarly to the probation list. There’s too many instances of a board member simply posting an eBay name and not really explaining the problem. We’ve seen more than once someone complaining about a transaction only to have it later revealed they were themselves in the wrong. Anyhoo, I don’t think Cal singled you out or even knows your ID is on there. I’ll have to check out that thread. I’m not much of a Disco guy. There’s songs from that era I like, but there’s probably just as many I strongly dislike as opposed to just being indifferent.

The new board upgrade accidentally outted their secret Mods Quite a bit of excitement there for several hours. Maybe this is a first step towards some changes in how the boards(it’s members) are moderated? Well, I just go another 2 week vacation.
Why?
This is what the mods wrote in my warning.
"It's not acceptable on the CGC boards to compare a pandemic response to Hitler, particularly with such vivid imagery about genocide"
Effing ridiculous.
This is what i posted verbatim and it was a call to respect each other not a comparison to genocide:
Interesting that you bring up Nazis. They're bad. Really, really bad. But the general public during that historic time was responsible for allowing it to happen. It didn't just happen in a vacuum.
Interestingly enough, there are some parallels to what's happening today.
This is my general, loose understanding of how things went down.
Hitler was a clean freak and hated unclean things. He was in essence a germaphobe. He bathed 4 times a day for this reason.
When he was brought into power some of his earliest campaigns were to 'clean up' Germany by fumigating factories to kill bugs and rodents and other undesirables.
Hitler appealed to a large percentage of his followers because biologically and psychologically society doesn't like germs and unclean things.
If something is annoying you can just avoid it and walk away. But when something is unclean or germ ridden, you need to eradicate it. You kill it. You burn it.
He finally convinced his followers that some humans were unclean and fumigated them with a similar version of the toxin that was used to fumigate factories in the early days of his campaign.
We've now all been convinced that every other human is a problem as we all 'could be infected with the virus'
That's some serious parallel going on there.
It's time to start paying attention to how we feel about our fellow man. Especially those that disagree with us.
