eBay item # 352553233633 nitrocomics1977
The seller took a newsstand Bats 457 and a direct 2nd print Bats 457. Removed covers from both books, placed the newsstand cover of Bats 457 onto the guts of a 2nd print direct copy. He did a poor job of hiding his handiwork, as well. Not only is there a big gash on the top staple area, both staples show clearly visible signs of being bent into position. Sold at $76 + shipping, gotta feel kinda bad for the guy who paid $80 for a book that is worth about one dollar.....top 2 bidders both have over a thousand feedbacks, you'd think that someone with over a thousand feedbacks on eBay would know better. Didn't check the bidding history of the bidders to see their bidding percentage/history with this seller, yet. I noticed that the seller typed "2nd print newsstand" into the "modifications" box. Modified, indeed. Feel free to repost this on other forums, and report this seller to eBay for fraud. 5 reports and he gets suspended.

If it was a Second Print, it would have the 'New Robin Issue' banner at the top. Reported!

I've checked through seller's FB and there's no evidence of any feedback being left for this book. I suspect the scam was picked up at some point after the winning bid was placed. Good post BTW.

Thanks, Bats.
Far as can be seen from the feedback, the scam was not detected by the buyer. Or it was, and the book was sent back.
In eithr event....all it would have taken to have a negative feedback scubbed is if it used inflammatory knowledge. A seller just has to call eBay and cite feedback abuse.
Actually, IIRC, eBay's feedback policy now voids negative feedback if a return is accepted, and the buyer gets a refund.
There's no way to know what happened with his book. Odds are that, the buyer paid for it, thinking he was getting good deal.
When/if the buyer, assuming he paid for the book and he did not send it back, and he subs it to CGC or CBCS....the buyer will be in for a rude awakening.
