We need some pages from the Sears Holiday "Wish Book" 60's - mid 80's. Not sure if that got traction outside the States, but it was huge here. Those Mego's were awesome. Who knew how cool those'd be to the future "us"?
Just saw this from Ditch: "if you're technically too old". Nah, you might get weird looks, but the toys were better when they could be appreciated I think. Those 70's parents wouldn't have been drinking, doping, and swinging so much if they could just chill with all those amazing toys available for a few bucks. Adam-12. Planet Of the Apes. CW McCall! I found it! Sears Holiday Wish Book Archive

I wouldn't expect younger folks to understand what these pages meant to many of us who group up with these catalogs. It was way more than just advertising.

It was way more than just advertising. When I was 4 or 5 one of my brothers worked for the Salvation Army in their warehouse. One day he brought home a bulldozer peddle car for me. It was really old and beat up, and I think my dad got it working again. It had a blade in front that you could move up and down, and it steered by levers on the left and right. It was the coolest toy in the world, and all the neighborhood kids were amazed and jealous. Anyway, I looked through some of the catalogs for it but couldn't find it. If anyone finds it, please let me know. Edit: I just found it using Google. Mine was pretty much in the same rusted condition. Best toy I ever had.

Probably a little of both, but my guess is they would purchase in a store over ordering. I know some stuff had to be ordered as I never saw it in person, but don't know where those packages were being shipped as I never saw them at the house.

Did any of you have G1 Transformers from the early 1980s? I had some and remembered mine were made of metal. The ones I see on eBay are plastic. Is my memory playing tricks on me?

I think they were mostly plastic with some metal components. I have a few in the loft somewhere. I know I still have this one...

I had an Optimus Prime that I thought was mostly metal and Megatron that had metal parts. For some reason I thought I had a Starscream that was partly metal too.

My Cousin used to have a few Transformers figures and I am pretty sure they were metal and not plastic.

These are my favorite Batman action figures that I currently own. I bought them on eBay within the last 2-3 years. I love them, they look just like they leapt out of the comic books from that era!
