A man charged with stabbing his wife multiple times last year pleaded guilty to attempted first degree murder in Union County Court Wednesday.
Investigators said Thomas Neeley stabbed his wife, Elizabeth Allen, multiple times early on Sept. 30, 2013 in their home as Allen’s children slept. For seven hours, Neeley prevented Allen from leaving or calling for help. She had a punctured liver, cut diaphram and parts of her intestines were hanging outside her body.
Allen called 911 the next morning when Neeley left. Law enforcement arrested him later that day at a Walmart in York County, S.C.
Neeley has several prior criminal offenses, including kidnapping and breaking and entering.
Though she was seriously injured, Allen survived.
This week, Neeley accepted a plea deal instead of being put on trial. He agreed to plead guilty if prosecutors sought a 15- to 19-year prison sentence. Attempted first degree murder can be punished with a 40-year sentence.
After court, Allen told WBTV she was unhappy with the plea agreement.

“I’m for life for this. I get life and he gets 15 years. I have all these problems — my stomach is so messed up, they don’t know what’s wrong” Allen said. “How is fair for me to look down and see that and he gets 15 years? I get forever.”
“The vast majority of cases we handle we seek some kind of compromise resolution, if one can be reached, because we simply don’t have the court resources to try every case,” Robison said to WBTV.
To win a trial, prosecutors would have to prove Neeley intended to kill Allen. There is a question about Neeley’s mental state and may not be competent to stand trial.
“I feel like I didn’t get justice in there,” Allen told WBTV. “What he did was so bad, how could he just get such a little bit of time?”
