Pablo Marcos was an outstanding inker for George Perez. Tom Palmer is one I can spot a mile way. I have mixed feelings about Pablo Marcos, his inks on Perez were OK, but his inks over Keith Pollard were absolutely hideous! If you want to see some real inking BUTCHERY check out FF #166 and take a gander at Vince Colletta inking Perez. Gander taken...

Janson also works well with Chaykin. Yes, I enjoy that as well! Of course everything is subjective, but I dig JR Jr's current work, the same way I dig Chaykin, Mignola, Simonson, and of course Kirby, and all of those "blocky" dudes! Not comparing JR Jr directly to the King, of course, but yeah, I enjoy that approach over a more, say, illustrative style, like Adams or whatever. There are, of course, exceptions. I'm all about Wrightson, for instance. And not everyone can pull of that "blocky" style and make it work. Another I like (that many don't) is Frank Robbins. His work strongly reminds me of Milton Caniff's.

I think Perez was best inking himself. Byrne too.

I think Perez was best inking himself. Byrne too. I think most pencilers ink themselves best. I can't think of an early Neal Adams example where he does his own. His stuff with Dick Giordano I like very much. Neal's stuff the last several years I think is pretty good, including the current Deadman.

Joe Sinnott is one of the best inkers, he improved upon the pencils and defined them to perfection. Just look at any issue of FF from the 1970's when there was a fill-in inker and you can spot the deterioration in quality instantly. STERANKO Inks by JOE SINNOTT Captain America #110 - 1969

Classic. I think that's Casey Affleck in the yellow shirt.
