Pablo Marcos was an outstanding inker for George Perez. Tom Palmer is one I can spot a mile way. I have mixed feelings about Pablo Marcos, his inks on Perez were OK, but his inks over Keith Pollard were absolutely hideous! If you want to see some real inking BUTCHERY check out FF #166 and take a gander at Vince Colletta inking Perez.

I think one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of Frank Miller's is Klaus Janson. Never liked his inking. That's interesting because I think Janson was great for Miller and not so great for others. Janson was a very heavy inker and that sometimes detracted from the pencils but for me, not in the case of Miller

Of the twenty listed, I would have probably only picked 5-6 of those. I agree. I would only have picked a handful myself

I had a couple of pages from the run and really wish I'd held onto them. JR Jr/Janson have such a kinetic energy when working together. It may not be "pretty" illustration, but it feels action packed to me.

Although a small sample size, three of four people here liked Janson and he was on the top 20 list, so I wouldn't say the opinion is unpopular.

I guess I'm thinking of the CGC boards, where JR Jr isn't...a fan favorite. Glad to find some supporters here!

He was talking about JRJr. There's something about him that people hate. As for inks, I just don't like the bIg fat dark inkers. I think Alex Toth and Harvey Kurtzman are terrible artists Kurtzman's inks are the worst.

There's something stylistically about his work (different from Kurtzman) that just works for me.

JR Jr used to be much better. Somewhere along the way his style changed into the blocky mess that it is now. . I can't handle to his recent stuff at all.

I was liking his art style on Spider-Man and X-Men in the 90's. His style of recent years is mainly awful. Not sure why certain artists change their style so drastically to the point it looks nothing like their earlier work.

Janson also works well with Chaykin. Yes, I enjoy that as well! Of course everything is subjective, but I dig JR Jr's current work, the same way I dig Chaykin, Mignola, Simonson, and of course Kirby, and all of those "blocky" dudes! Not comparing JR Jr directly to the King, of course, but yeah, I enjoy that approach over a more, say, illustrative style, like Adams or whatever. There are, of course, exceptions. I'm all about Wrightson, for instance.
