I just did! My OCD kicked in and I could not help myself. The seller listed FF #232-287 in NM 9.8 as "original owner, read once and then stored in climate controlled environment". And then stated that he would ship the comics securely as if he was sending them off to be graded by CGC! I mean, seriously...how could I possibly resist this? $65 plus $10 shipping cost. Bargain or not?
Am I the only one with ZERO resistance when it comes to multiple sets??

I've purchased a couple sets of MSH: Secret Wars (Shooter & Zeck's), and the Mutant Masacre issues, and maybe a couple other mini series, but I don't think I've ever done that with books that are part of my big run collections.

I've bought the odd run two or three times over but to get better copies. I'm sure you're way ahead of me but I doubt you'll get 55 issues all in NM/M, particularly if read.

I already own pretty sharp copies from this run but there may be quite a few from this lot that are upgrades. The price was right, but I will have to wait and see once I get them.

I think Bats is referring to the law of averages that suggests the seller's opinion of NM is subjective.

I have about 5 complete runs of the '93 Maxx series. I admit I picked up one set purely for getting NM for signing and submitting. I did pretty well overall, most came back 9.6 or better. I think only 2 were under

I would imagine you're very careful with the spine when you read them. Most people aren't... And in my experience, sellers who claim to have 55 NM/M books for sale, rarely do. Basically, what Siggy said... I think Bats is referring to the law of averages that suggests the seller's opinion of NM is subjective. Well, I won't know until I actually get them in the mail. 9.8 seems like a big claim but I am hoping for an overall 9.4. That's what I'd hope for.

I've never bought sets that I've already owned, but I've purchased multiple copies of books within the set. One that comes to mind is DC 52 specifically the issues with 1st appearances (Week 7, 11, and 12 are a few). Seems like I did well picking those up cheap since #7 and #11 have recently gone up quite nicely due to the TV show announcement. Not like it matters much since I'm just going to be sitting on these books anyways without selling any.

UPDATE: I received the FF set in the mail today...56 issues total, with shipping the total I paid was $75 so that comes out to $1.34 per issue (unless my math is wrong). Comics were packed safely so NO damage. Were the comics in 9.6/9.8 as advertised??...I have only viewed each issue briefly while still inside the plastic but they are all extremely sharp NM/M at first glance. Like I said before, I didn't buy this set thinking every issue would be 9.6/9.8, was hoping for an overall 9.4 and I am not disappointed.
Just a quick note...some of the best looking comics I have bought off of eBay were from original owners. A couple years ago I bought a set of FF #204-220 for $30 total and the seller stated that these were his brothers comics that he was selling and just stated that the comics were is great condition. I took a chance based on the pictures he provided and I couldn't believe how sharp the copies were when I received them.

I want high res scans of each book, front and back
Well done, old chap

Now I find myself looking at another eBay listing for a run of comics I already own, the comics are priced reasonably at $99 and there is also a "Best Offer" option. A 35 issues run in NM with plenty of pictures. Perhaps it is the wording that entices me??...
"Look to be unread, pulled from old dead stock, NM- to NM"..."All look to be NM- to NM copies, a nice high quality set"..."List Value in NM- 9.2 is: $316".
Are there comics that you love so much that duplicates are desirable? If it is just me that is ok because I realize I have serious issues!
