@organicsquishee kwticknor I was reading GCD and noticed that it stated that The Brave and the Bold #93 has a variant. GCDI had never heard this before, so I searched the internet and found absolutely no information about it. And it doesn't appear that either CGC or CBCS notes the variation on the label. Game on! I discovered examples of both variants (see below). It appears that when the error was caught, the plate was rather crudely modified to correct the error (notice the upward shift in the word 'Bold'). Since there are examples of both variants on eBay in fairly ample quantities, I can't make any inference as to the percentage of each variant in the print run. I fear I have just added a new nightmare for Batman completists. If anyone has any additional information, please post it here; I would love to know more about this issue. Thanks for reading. The original indicia variant.eBay - The Brave and the Bold #93Here's another. THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD # 93 FN ( 1970 DC) The corrected indicia variant.eBay - Brave and the Bold #93 VF+ 8.5 (1970) Batman & House of Mystery, Neal AdamsBrightness/Contrast Adjusted Image Here's another issue showing the corrected indicia. eBay - BRAVE AND THE BOLD # 93 - JANUARY 1971 - VERY FINE 8.0 (VF) - FREE SHIPPING

I fear I have just added a new nightmare for Batman completists. No kidding!! A variant that cannot be identified by the cover? Ho-lee- !. The comic Shops are gonna be inundated by chasers (and Staff) digging in the "B" boxes and taking the comics out of the bags. Books are gonna be pulled from eBay. Perhaps even some completed transactions that haven't shipped yet will suddenly be cancelled (who would DO such a thing?).

I heard there was three versions of this indicia. The first one is "The Brave & The Bowl" but then someone realized that didn't sound quite right so they changed it to "The Brave & The Bowled" before the final change to "The Bold".

Such a great cover. And to think, the secrets it hides...

Naw...that's just an old wives' tale. Have you read the issue? It's all part of the story. Bats travels to Ireland as Bruce Wayne. When he gets there a local shares a bowl of Irish Red (THC 46%) with him late at night. Bats gets so high he decides to give up crime-fighting and become an underwear model. Hence, the confusion surrounding the Brave & The Bowl.
