Nice group of books on display. Not sure what my budget might have been, but I couldn’t get out of there without at least 7 or 8 of them. Laugh #100 and Archie’s Joke Book #46 are fairly easy to spot, as was Sad Sack #96 with a large Muttsy in the corner. I just missed getting this book a couple weeks ago because I was screwing around on some message board. It had one bidder. Anyone know the title of the comic just to the right of the guy’s head?I looked and looked but couldn't find it.

Clever for the newsagent to hang the magazines upside down in order to expose the title. Only thing that seemed familiar is Ten Story Love from Ace Publications, romance stories, but of course no comics back then. Ace later had a comic similar to Archie called Andy that’s got a few issues on DCM I believe.

c.1953 "Newsdealers would sell photos like these under the counter back in the days when nudie pix were contraband." As usual, feel free to identify the comic books.

I’m interested in this, the image looks like an oversized martini glass to me, or an oddly shaped word balloon.

Mid 1940s (Possibly 1947?) That’s probably correct. The two easy ones that jumped out were the Supes #45 and Star Spangled #67 from Jan. and Feb. of ‘47. The child has a Dell Mickey Mouse that I’m mostly unfamiliar with “Mickey and the Submarine Pirates”. I never saw much Mickey except the occasional Gold Key as far as comics were concerned. That Zoot in the lower right caught my eye as this was the last issue when the title was a funny animal theme(#6), and with #7 introduced Rulah The Jungle Goddess in stories and as the cover subject. There’s definitely a lot to explore here in this photo. Is that a car battery sitting next to the little boy?
