I mourn his passing. He is part of an elite group of artists who had a real impact on the world...and myself. I would be a different person without being exposed to his works. I first started reading him when I was in grade school; someone turned me on to 'Along The Scenic Route' and I was hooked for life. After that, I read everything he ever produced. I'm still moved by his prose, and his anger. His Harlequin was probably the first superhero I identified with, as he sought to subvert the powers that be. Harlequin's rain of jelly beans caused havok and clogged the moving sidewalks. Genius. As you can see, he bent the rules of grammar for effect, and it was oh so wonderful. Anyway, years later I found out that he'd been heavily influenced by the comics of his day, and even had a sizable collection. Here's a look...
