I guess I shouldn't be surprised that CGC isn't doing anything to correct this. Those slabs look horrible with the Newton Rings. Remember that service that offered a quality assessment of graded slabs 6-7 years ago based on centering & such? Maybe now is their chance to get some play by grading the newton rings and how that affects slab quality. CVA to rate the severity of newton rings? That's GOLD.

The way people buy slabs these days, they may as well just grade the slabs and document it

That's one of my favorite Flash covers. I think I would rather have the Newton Rings than that signature on the book. That signature is ugly on that cover, but at least it's the right grade to have signed.

linkLike I've always said, if a buyer can and will return a slab for tiny scuff marks, you can expect returns on newton rings. roll downhill.

And if a slab can be returned for newton rings, with the seller eating the cost of shipping both ways, sellers will try to protect themselves by disclosing them. link

Looks like someone wiped their butt on the SEC part of that cover...

What Causes Newton Rings - A Simple ExplanationThere's been a lot of misinformation and confusion out there about what causes newton rings on graded comic book cases. Let's start with the basics and keep it REAL simple because optical equations can get complicated very quickly and I'll lose most of you. Consider a convex lens placed on top of a flat piece of glass. Both are highly polished. You lost me at "consider"
{Spoiler} No seriously, nice explanation, old chap

{Spoiler} No seriously, nice explanation, old chap I was doing my best Rod Serling - any scientific paper worth its salt has a dash. I would have gone with, "Imagine if you will...," but thought it over the top.
