Wow, it's just like they don't care about this issue. Yeah, I'm guessing CGC committed to buying 'x' amount of product from their supplier coupled with all the slab-addicts and flippers who keep submitting books left CGC thinking they'll eventually work their way through this. It's really bad from a reputation standpoint, though. Has anyone seen really high end books with this problem or dp they just allow these (newton ring slabs) for primarily modern tier books? Good question

I would think they would consider what they're doing as brand damaging. Apparently their brand isn't worth the amount that they spent on these slabs since they're content with continuing to use these slabs.

All the time their label has more value than their competitors', they won't worry about it. If everyone left in droves, they'd soon change. But that's never going to happen...

You're right, the value of their books are higher than their competitors. I don't see this changing anytime soon. People will deal with this mess which is a damn shame.

The whole slabbing thing seems so much like a house of cards to me. It's only a matter of time before the whole edifice falls on their heads.
Feels like a ponzi scheme. Prices are totally artificially inflated, the problem is there are too many suckers out there with too much money.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that CGC isn't doing anything to correct this. Those slabs look horrible with the Newton Rings.

Remember that service that offered a quality assessment of graded slabs 6-7 years ago based on centering & such? Maybe now is their chance to get some play by grading the newton rings and how that affects slab quality.
