I like baseball. Growing up I was mostly a Mets fan, but the Red Sox were my AL team. My favorite position player was Carlton Fisk. Tony Perez was right up there, too.
I follow the Giants, A's, and Orioles as well.

I thought it interesting that Brian McCann has hit 20 or more HR's in nine consecutive seasons. He's got 11 so far this year. I don't know if any catcher has done it for ten. Bench, Carter, and Piazza each have nine. That's some good company Brian's with.

Lifelong Red Sox fan, been to at least one game a year for the past decade or so. We get a friend's season tickets, Section 30 on the left field side, great seats.

Red Sox can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag. This team is frustrating as hell. If they had a more consistent offence they would be running away with the AL East

If they had a more consistent offence they would be running away with the AL East Yeah, it must suck that their inconsistencies keep them from having a ten game lead at this point.  So many of the more vocal Sox fans seem to have forgotten all the struggles of those many lean years. |

A big reason I rarely participated in the sports threads at the other place was a couple members that spoiled things for me with their incessant crowing about 'their' teams greatness. It's no more noble to support a mediocre team, but I certainly couldn't see me gloating or taking any credit if my team were to win or come out on top. |
