Ah I see. I wonder about the placement. The description is right against the box, no space. That could just be someone missed typing the space.

This copy of Marvel Premiere # 15 was labeled incorrectly i.e. it was a clerical error. It was NOT graded as a 3.5. comicsheatingup.net/2017/04/12/follow-up-on-the-infamous-marvel-premiere-15-cgc-clerical-error/Read that article. My takeaway is that the seller of this item refused to return the slab, which CGC had requested and CGC had the legal right to have the slab returned, per one of the clasuses in the legally binding contract that a submitter signs when every single book is subbed to CGC. All of that is detailed in this linked article (and the first article on this slab from CHU, refer to the comments section for specific qoutes). The seller saw the opportunity to capitalize on CGC's clerical error by listing this slab on eBay in auction format. The highest bidder was a new ebay member with 0 feedback, almost certainly a shill account created by the seller or an associate of the seller, in order to force the bidding up to a ridiculous amount. Of course, the 0 feedback bidder did not pay the seller for the slab (which closed at $965 or so II RC) and the MP 15 was sold via a Second Chance Offer to the under bidder , at slightly under a $1000. As the book was labeled incorrectly and the sale was almost certainly illegitimate, the sale is not recorded in GPA.

Hi hope he isn't going to try to sell it at FMV. If you're referring to the Det 369 9.2, which I am assuming that you are, the seller removed the book from ebay with the reason cited as "item is no longer available." www.ebay.com/itm/Detective-Comic-359-CGC-9-2-ow-w-pages-DC-1967-1st-Batgirl-/112446925884?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137As far as my opinion of the Det being worthy of a 9.2 grade; it is really hard to say. There are only 2 images shown, no scans.Just angled pics. From the FC pic, the spine has a signifigant amount of feathering and several spine ticks. However, if you look at the back cover, the majority of the spine ticks are not transverse e.g. they do not reach the back cover and as such, would not be severe in nature. At first glance of the front cover pic, which is angled so that the spine is shown prominently, I can see how it could be pegged as a over graded book. Just going off a first look of the FC's angled pic, it could easily be looked at as an 8.0; not a 9.2. An 8.0 would be my first look/casual glance guesstimated grade. If you blow up the FC image, there appears to be a couple very light surface dings/scractes.Beyond that, the corners are all sharp, no blunting at the top/bottom of the spine and it looks very sharp. The FC dings look to be very light, one could say that they are not evident on the BC, which would go to show that they are merely surface dings.Flip side of that coin is that the BC is also angled, and it is mostly white, so such dings would be hard to view unless the book was actually in hand. And a third flip side is that the book is only shown with two pictures, which instinctively force the viewer to focus in on the area of the book where the defects are present. If the book, still encapsulated, was in hand; and you held it up in natural sunlight, it would be much easier to say wether or not it warrants a grade below 9.2.It could very well be closer to an 8.0, or be a solid 8.0.It may also (arguably) merit a 9.2. I think definitively declaring the book to be over graded, based on 2 angled pictures while viewing the book in a plastic tomb, is a premature conclusion.

It turns out, CGC graded several of these books at the same time. All are incorrectly graded as 9.8s. So much for the usual "Label Error" apologist response. 1978585011 1978585009 1978585005

Ditch Fahrenheit - I’m going to re-watch your vids about the various cases and the problems caused. This example here is an instance where I can’t tell if it was haphazard grading or damage that occurred after being encapsulated.

Ditch Fahrenheit - I’m going to re-watch your vids about the various cases and the problems caused. This example here is an instance where I can’t tell if it was haphazard grading or damage that occurred after being encapsulated. Case damage like SCS has a very strong signature...this book doesn't have it. The damage on this particular book occurred before encapsulation. Now, someone could make the argument that one of CGC's less than careful employees caused the damage, but that doesn't matter. If the book passes through Quality Control (I'm pretending they actually have a QC group), and is shipped out with a grade that no longer represents the book, that's a grading mistake or failure on their part. This includes the label error hypothesis that our Kool-aid guzzlin' friends like to regurgitate whenever their god comes under scrutiny.

Centerfold detached and top edge of cover trimmed in 7.0 Universal. Just to put this in perspective, Overstreet (and most grading experts) wouldn't grade this higher than 3.5 because of the detached centerfold, and it would be considered restored because of the cover trimming. This is a grading failure by CGC.

I wish I could get grades like that.
For me they've been overly tight the last few months as mirrored by the CGC thread on the same topic a few weeks ago.
