Are you gonna go? You going to be there? I'm thinking about it! What made him decide to come East? Nope. That's a little further away than I'm willing to go for a con. Unless someone picked up the tab, of course. I'm sure the main reason he's going is because they invited him, and are paying his way. He's on a fixed budget, so that's pretty much the deciding factor for him. Just a few years ago he probably wouldn't be interested, but (I like to think with my help) he seems to finally realize his role in comic book history. His interest with "putting himself out there" has definitely picked up. He'd often ask what I thought of Ron Frenz constantly posting his current and past work on Facebook, and I say he's likely trying to stay relevant in the industry, and that I think he should be doing the same.

Siggy's Tar Dust® - Why not bring Mike over to one of the British Cons? He'd go down a treat! I'll even give you a hand to set up. Once he's settled in, we can go down the pub Wish I had some kind of say in it . I didn't even know he was going to NH until Stu's post. He'll, he went to South America last gear, so I don't know why he wouldn't go to England. I'm sure he would if he's ever invited. I'm not sure how these things work. Looking at your post above, I'll hazard a guess he'd go if someone paid his expenses. I'm (sort of) acquainted with a couple of guys who have a hand in organising cons. I might ask them!

Do It! I'm sure he'd love to go, considering how much he loves British programs. And correct, he'd need his expenses covered. So would I

And yes, I am. Not that I'd be a challenge. At either one.

At $6.50 a pint (London beer prices) it's best not to be a challenge. 1 and 1/2 pints will cost you more than the fare to ride the tubes for a whole day!
And finding a pool table in a Central London pub is a challenge itself. Most of the buildings are fairly small, so there's not enough room...

Agreed, its good to see artists that actually had a hand in creating characters 50+ years ago, setting up at coms today. Alan Bellman (worked on Timely books) sets up at shows in NY occasionally, IIRC. Stan Lee's brother was set up at the 2017 Big Apple (Carbo's show, not Jacitts) , I did that show, missed it this year. Not sure if he was there this year.....but I was very surprised at the lack of fanfare/promotion for him at the Big Apple 2017 con. The guy was about as key of a figure as Stan and Kirby WRT golden and silver age comics.

Yeah, the promoter generally pays for a an artist/writer's traleving and lodging expenses. Only exception would be lesser known creators like unestablished/ indie aetists that cover their own expenses, and usually the booth cost as well. Guys like Perez, Ennis, Jock, Starlin, Miller, Jim Lee, Leifeld ....hot artists etc, charge an appearance fee to the prompter, on top of being comped for all expenses. Basically the "hotter" the talent is, more money they will get from the promoter.....big names increase attendance and consequently, that increases booth prices that dealers pay.

I'm not trying blood pudding A co-worker just returned from Ireland, and said he tried it before he knew what if was (it was on his breakfast plate). He said it was a little black biscuit. He took a nibble from it and put it down. Said it's named perfectly.
