That's quite clever. Didn't look at it that way. I'm sure that if he was someone I really sought out for a commission, I could haggle with him. If I recall his art, he's talented- Uses large areas of black. Do you recall if the work he was doing 'cheated' this way? Or did it look true commission quality (meaning not with a rushed convention look)? Or am I demanding too much memory  I do recall one piece with multiple characters that was filled from end to end, so I would say it was totally worth it. It wasn't blacked out in any way.
He does a lot of Batman stuff from what I've seen at his booth, so most of his work is blacked out, I agree.
Still wouldn't pay 10k for a piece though |

I agree. I like his older stuff a lot better than his newer stuff. By far. I wonder if he has just gotten lazy or what

I went to the MCM London Comic Con yesterday. Suffice to say, I probably won't be going again as it was a bit of a disappointment. I stopped going to MCM several years ago when they started the London Super Comic Con, however heard it had improved. Unfortunately not enough. Even though it's four times the size it used to be, it's still nothing more than a Merchfest, with a few comic book sellers dotted around the venue. It was also far too overcrowded! It took forever to get from one side of the hall to the other.
They did have a handful of creators there (e.g. Frank Miller, Amanda Conner) but not many. I was fortunate enough to meet Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, and get my JSA Classified #1 signed - sue me, I like that series - but the line for Frank Miller was far too long and he didn't seem to be there most of the time I was in that hall.
Then I went down the pub. |
