Staind. Whiny little . Thanks Limp Dick Biscuit for discovering these assholes. Mudshovel would be the one song I could stand. Who can we blame for Limp Biskit I hate to say it but I believe it was Korn's fault.

He saw a bumper sticker that read, "Korn gave Head to Jesus" I liked a couple Korn songs but for me they had too much of that nu-metal/rap sound for me to get into.

I thought "Round And Round" was pretty darn catchy. "Lay It Down" and "You're In Love" were OK by me. Funny, but the last two bands mentioned (Ratt and Accept) both opened for Motley Crüe and were very well received at the time of the show. I'd like to hear a few of those songs again out of nostalgia. I remember it feeling kind of subversive to hear the word "Balls" on the radio back then.

In the 70's/80's our local (San Jose) DJ was Dennis Erectus on KOME Radio. "Don't touch that dial, you've got KOME on it!" He had a segment called Celebrity Gang Bang starring Nancy Reagan. One time he took a piece from the George Reeves Superman series- did some editing and had Jimmy Olsen shouting, "Look! It's Superman, and he's comimg... and he's coming... and he's coming..." The way I heard it, "they" ordered him to stop.

I thought "Round And Round" was pretty darn catchy. "Lay It Down" and "You're In Love" were OK by me. Those are ok, but I think there were some other good songs too, on the EP and the first album. Tell The World, Back For More, You Think You're Tough, Wanted Man, Lack of Communication,... But the later albums, ugh. Ratt is one band that got real ghey real quick. Way Cool Junior? Ach, no thanks. This reminds me of a quick story. When I first started dating my wife she wasn't into metal much, so she didn't know any of these bands. She saw bands like Ratt and Poison in their spandex and would just laugh. Then I gave her Master of Puppets to listen to and she said she would only listen to it if I didn't show her a picture of the band. I laughed and said no, these guys are cool, they just wears jeans and t-shirts but it was still quite a while before she saw a picture of them. For reference I look kinda like Lars on the cover of the $5.98 Garage EP That was half the fun of Balls to the Wall I was 15 when that album came out so I was perfectly immature at the time. I also remember Fast as a Shark and London Leather Boys being some of their better songs. When I saw Motley Crue in 1985 it was Y&T that opened up, I would've much rather have seen Ratt or Accept. I saw Ratt headline and White Lion opened up. Holy , you can believe we stayed in the parking lot while they were on.

He also has a song about his dog, who he named Stains. Every night he would scream from the back porch: "Come stains, come stains..."

In 1984 I got my license and my mom let me drive her awesome Ares K station wagon *snicker*. The car only had an AM radio, and the strongest station was WNBC in NYC about 200 miles from me. One day I turned it on and heard Ooohs and Aaaahs and porno squeals and a vibrator. Then I heard the skit and it was a porno review. I thought this is crazy, who is this nutjob? You guessed it, Howard Stern.

A thought occurred to me, maybe better for another thread, but:
What is the weirdest pairing of bands you've seen? Not really counting festivals, just an opening band and a headliner.
I saw Mountain open for Triumph and I saw Fastway open for Rush. These seemed weird to me. How about The Cult opening for Metallica? Terrible choice.
