This same seller has the same book listed on eBay as a "Buy it Now" option for $42 with free shipping. I thought by going to the sellers actual website that I could get the book cheaper (since offers are welcome) but the high shipping fee makes the book more expensive than the eBay listing by nearly $5. I wouldn't have minded the higher shipping price if I was ordering a group of comics, but too high IMO for just 1 book.

, someone always gets easily offended at these sites. I posted at another site where someone said that their sister liked comics and I responded by saying "your sister sounds hot" and I was banned for a week because I was accused of sexualizing a female. It was a joke, I said she sounds hot because she liked comics and nothing more was meant by it. Of course the Moderator was an ass and refused to listen to reason and kept sending me emails preaching to me about how to properly behave so I told him to go "F*CK OFF" and then he sends me one last email saying that I am permanently banned. I'm not personally offended, though I'd imagine anyone lurking who may be Jewish would be. If I were offended, I'd make a crack about the elderly being a burden. Everyone is offended by something

"Political correctness". "Offended". Terms often used a belittling manner to suggest the responder is in someway wrong.
This is not about "political correctness". It is about respect for fellow human beings.
Those comments are not welcome here, Bryan. Keep them to yourself or move on.
I'm not sure it was the moderator who refused to listen.

I'm not sure it was the moderator who refused to listen. Thanks for your expert opinion. "Jewed" is not in the same category as " " or "gay", it's more like the N word. It is an inherently insulting word that only has one purpose/definition; it was never a benign word that was twisted/hijacked. But hey, we learn something every day. Just last year I learned that "peckerwood" was insulting to some redneck crackers down South. Didn't even realize it until Siggy showed a clip from Back to the Future.

I work in the Mental Health field and the word " " is deemed one of the worse vulgarities. It used to be no big deal to use the word a decade or so ago but it has now become on par as a curse word or close to the N word.

What Bats is saying is it's their site, and they were informing you of what is and is not acceptable on their site. By responding with, " off", you pretty much announced a refusal to agree. Right? Or does " off" mean, "okay, I'll respect your rules"?

I never told Bats to off, I was talking about something from another board...please go back and reread post. Also, didn't know it was Bats' site, thought he was just another poster.

Within the field I can see that, but in real life it's not even close. My mom worked for the DMR for 25 years. They changed the R when it became apparent that the word had been appropriated. That's the nature/evolution of the word. The nature of the word "jewed" was never benign and was coined specifically to disparage and target a specific race/people. To me that makes it more heinous and akin to the N word.

The " off" Siggy is referring to is the one you said at the end of your banning story.

Wow, sure are a lot of Preachers jumping on the bandwagon here. So are we ready to cast stones at me now over my use of the "jewed" word? I'm sure most of you guys have used your fair share of...colorful words?? No, or course not, you are ready for Sainthood I am sure. Anyway, I am leaving so just keep reading your Bibles and be good.

Correct. The other forum you mentioned was telling you what isn't acceptable, and you said you replied with " off". This shouldn't be a big deal, Bryan. We're just saying the term you used is as unacceptable here as the 'n' word, 'wetback', or 'chink'. In my mind, your term is almost as bad as the utterly STUPID nickname Brazil nuts have.

Bryan, are you suggesting we can't feel strongly about this? If so, would it be fair to say you're wrong for:
You'd be okay with someone saying, "I wish my wife would just let me throw her Mom in an old folks home"?

And yes, of course I've said "colorful" terms in the past when I was younger and ignorant, but I didn't say them in a room full of people I never met and cannot see.
