That whole era was full of fun reads. Not all good, but fun!

I'm one issue away (143) from a reader run of every Cap between 137 and 182. I refuse to collect the issues between that and when Kirby started his run. The reason? Frank Robbins

I always think of how Invaders suffered a bit from his artwork.

I agree about story but a guy like Robbins just kills it for me. It may not be unreadable, but it is unenjoyable

Was this drawn the day Goodman terminated Joe Maneely? After. Hint: That's a drawing of Stan Lee standing on the chair.

Was this drawn the day Goodman terminated Joe Maneely? After. Hint: That's a drawing of Stan Lee standing on the chair. Were they trying to save money and drop Stan Goldberg from the regular bullpen staff and now Stan lee was going to color the books? This is tough. I don't know much about Joe Maneely.

This is tough. I don't know much about Joe Maneely. I'll just post the link. It does a better job of telling the story than I could. As close as they were, I think if Joe hadn't been killed a month later, the future would probably have been different - especially regarding Ditko and Kirby. Possibly but Maneely couldn't have drawn it all himself. Stan would still have needed more artists.
