That made me think of tape pulls for some reason. About a third of my books still have flaps closed with tape. I need to get on the ball and fix that. "Careful" doesn't work long term. Tape goes on only after book is safely in new sleeve, and old tape gets cut as I am going to replace the bag & board anyway. I have had one tape-pull in my life, and I vowed never again. The way described above has kept me honest on that vow. I like to use those colored dots they sell in office supply places.

When I was buying out Maxx collections to get enough high grade books to take to Boston, I noticed a lot had those dot stickers. I also noticed that they indented the back of the backing boards Some of the dents were really deep.

If that happened my concern would be the comic sitting directly behind the first book where the cover is exposed.

It's a real issue with those dots.

I have seen tape indentations on the comic next that one's FC. Admittedly, the comics were stuffed into a box tightly and probably had been sitting for a LONG time, but yeah... I've seen tape leave indentations. At one point, I was putting my comics in the box face-to-face, every two comics, but gave that up quickly as it's a PITA when you're looking for something. I just make sure they aren't crammed into the box tightly.

I put boards, about 4 thick, on either end of a box before filling it, then make sure it's loose enough to stick my finger between issues. They shuffle slightly when moving the box around, but I haven't noticed them slipping under or anything like that
