If getting doughnuts right out of the glazer, still warm from being fried, is somehow "last decade", I will gladly stay in the past. KRISPY $%^&*'IN KREME. DUNKIN' DONUTS FTW! Poseurs.

In the Fall of 1984, I worked at an apple orchard. My job was to restock apples in the showroom and dispense advice about which apples were best for making pies. We also made apple cider donuts there. Nothing like an apple cider donut right out of the oven

I think I mentioned this before - I live where CT, MA, and RI all meet. About 15 years ago Tim Hortons showed up and put a shop literally across the street from every DD in the tri state area. Know how many are in business today? Zero! I remember that. Seems like all those Tim Horton's were gone as fast as they came.

Poseurs. We got a Krispy Kreme in central CT and there was much fanfare. It was NUTS! The lines were unbelievable. Never seen anything quite like it. A few years later it was gone and there have been no further Krispy Kreme incursions into the area. Dunkin is just too strong around here. Plus, KK's coffee sucks

Krispy Kreme is known for making donuts. I don't even think they serve cofveve in the store here.
Maybe if DD focused on making doughnuts, fresh throughout the day (instead if the one delivery they get in the AM of premade donuts) and less on their coffee, they'd make a decent doughnut. Until then, Krispy marthfloccin' Kreme!!!

I looked up KK around here and was surprised to see there is one at Mohegan Sun, 15 miles from me. The second closest one was more like I thought - I'd have to drive 125 miles to New York to get a KK.

We had Mister Donut, Bess Eaton, and Honey Dew Donuts. Honey Dew is still around in Rhode Island. Here's why MD and DD were competitors! In 1955, two brothers-in -law, Harry Winouker and Bill Rosenberg, broke off their partnership, each to begin his own chain of coffee and doughnut shops. Harry founded Mister Donut and Bill founded Dunkin Donuts.

Last night as a midnight munchie snack I ate an entire medium pizza from my fave local pie shop,Bronson.Always seems like there is double cheese, and the sauce and dough are house made daily.I topped it with house meatballs, smoked meat(like pastrami) and sausage.Extra sauce.I'm still burping.

We have lots of orchards around here, this is one of our favorites. www.lapsleyorchard.comDown the road is an ice cream shop that makes fresh waffle cones right in front of you. So tasty...
