Marinated chicken tenders in half Italian dressing, half soy sauce ("lite" kind). Grilled them up, put them over some fettuccine Alfredo.Other stuff too. It was awesome, except... I freakin' hate fettuccine. No matter how careful you are, there are always multiple clumps that stick together & don't cook. I am actually glad I made too much pasta because by the time I got through picking the clumps out, it was only barely too much.

I came home from work to find the rest of the Bat-Family weren't well and had gone to bed early. There was nothing in the house to eat (meat-wise) except for a can of stewing steak... I had that with green beans, followed by a pot noodle.

I don't think I can ever hear "can of steak" and think "appetizing."

Do you add olive oil when cooking the pasta? And do you zap it with cold water or leave the starch on?

Oil in the pasta water just floats on the surface. It does absolutely nothing for the pasta while it's cooking. Oil in pasta water doing anything good is a myth that just doesn't hold water. I never rinse my pasta, but that has no bearing here. At that point, the fettuccine is already stuck together. I don't get this with any other pasta, either.

Physics rule though. The oil can't disperse in the water effectively, therefore, it doesn't do anything but stay on top of the water. The temperature it would take for the oil to incorporate into water is far above the boiling point of water. Therefore, you'd need GALLONS of water to effectively disperse the oil and temperatures so high, it would not be a worthwhile endeavor.
Science!
