Turns out this fight was rigged from the beginning, with the contract stipulating that Tyson gets paid more if he hits Paul less.
Should have known.
Everything is rigged. Politics, sports, the law. Everything.
I used to watch every Tyson fight live on HBO back in the 80's. Such an awesome time in the sport. But, yeah...that fight didn't look right. His sparring footage showed someone who still had some quick movement and scary punches with a lot of power behind them. Obviously, sparring and fighting are two different things. But he moved like he was closer to 80 than he was to 60 during the fight. And Paul looked like he was obviously holding back too. I was in a bar and saw it on some guys phone, and couldn't believe it was the real fight. I thought it was some sort of SNL spoof.
I had to really stare to realize it was the real fight.
It's a total joke. People should be outraged for being taken like that.

Interesting side story. My uncle used to fix Tyson's cars in the 80's when he was at his peak.
He had a Lamborghini 4 x 4 that was really rare, I think a Lamborghini Countach and I can't remember what else.
He showed me a check Tyson gave him as payment. It was a big deal back in the day.

I was looking forward to this...old enough to have been an adult and saw all of Tyson's fights. This was a travesty. Reminded me of a money grab.  |
