I saw Madam Web. *ducks*
Here's how it came to pass. My sister and I occasionally see movies together. She had seen all the other movies out because sometimes she will see two or three on a weekend. It was the only one she hadn't seen. Curse the sparse release schedule.
I will say this about Madam Web. It was a corporate derived origin story. That's all it was. Sony is still following through on it's attempt to set up their own "universe" out of the Spider-Man peripheral characters. We all know that. I also know I am way out of their target age demographic.
In fifty years, I doubt the enmity and hostility towards them will be as high, so people may stumble across them in some digital catalog and watch them out of curiosity.
So, if they put that aside, then they still have to work through the disjointed, sparse story and wonder how they can get those last two hours of their life back. Unless, they have a thing for any of the actresses, then they may watch it over and over and over..... Unless their obsession makes better and more substantial movies, then they probably will remember that they need to make better choices in nostalgically searching for their obsession's other movies.
We have firmly planted ourselves in the "be careful of what you wish for" level of comic book movies because Hollywood loves to twist the joy out of original source material when it adapts books, comic books, comic strips, etc into movies.

Corporate plots, made by committee, using a checklist. And they just cant figger out why they are churning out bomb after bomb. Their fear of taking risks actually ensures they will lose money. Take some risks FFS! Try original never seen before stuff! The biggest hits-star wars, american graffiti, jaws, rocky-these were atypical films thought by the experts in Hollywood to be sure flops-nope. Audiences are pretty forgiving if they get to see something they've never seen before. Its one point in the favor of a movie. Even if it wasn't all that great people can still say well that was unusual at least and held my interest. Corporate movies where you can predict every single plot move-BORING. And stop with the snappy dialogue! People don't talk like that. If you watch Rocky the dialogue is awkward, realistic, and INTERESTING. "Hey Adrian, Uhhhhhh…. I was wonderin' if, uh... you wouldn't. mind marrying me very much? ".

And stop with the snappy dialogue! People don't talk like that. If you watch Rocky the dialogue is awkward, realistic, and INTERESTING. "Hey Adrian, Uhhhhhh…. I was wonderin' if, uh... you wouldn't. mind marrying me very much? ". Comics (comic books, comic strips, etc) and Movies are Commercial Art. That is Commercial Art with a capital 'C' and a capital 'A'. They were initially generated as money makers and proof of concept machinery works. Comic strips were created to generate newspaper sales. Comics books were created to make money off the people who missed installments in the newspaper. Movies were created to show proof of concept that a string of still images can captured and replicate action in reality. It's why both media have always recognized those who made technological advances in those fields. The Art of Comics and Movies, that's Art with a capital 'A', developed after certain technologies became more readily available and those who were concerned with the story conveyed in those media were able to produce their own comics or movies. Content was recognized after the technological delivery was established. Sony didn't license Spider-Man and his cast of characters to tell stories. They licensed it because they wanted to make money. They're gonna keep mining that licensed package as long as they can, whether we like it or not. What shows up on screen may or may not reflect the comics that we have read. What goes on screen is an effort to put butts in seats, not be a fan service. We get confused because we expect fan service to be priority one with translation of comics into a new media, but it's not. Movies morphed into Television. TV was more inclined to do fan service because they were a daily firehose of content to prove that broadcasting moving pictures into homes was as reliable or more reliable than radio broadcasts. With a daily cycle of broadcast and feedback TV stations were much more sensitive to gaffes and missteps because they didn't want to lose viewership. Viewership drove sales of TV sets. "Comic book" movies are just another money grab by movie studios and movie producers. Just like corporate comic sales by DC and Marvel are designed to make the company money. Adhering to a canon or fandom's opinion is secondary. I wish it was different, but maybe that's why people like Indie Movies and Indie Comics. The catch is this: do all these changes to a character set which you are a fan of, prevent you from going back? I'd venture to say the answer is a reluctant 'no' because they keep coming out with more. The studios and publishers don't push you enough to make you give up on the franchise or characters. Only when they cross that horizon will the end come, or the end of the licensing contract without a renewal.

Roy returns only to have his silly propaganda post from Instagram a removed item. . Let me guess... vaccines aren't just giving people heart attacks, they've morphed into giving movie execs a 'woke' mind. The End is Near!!! Blackrock is behind it all! Yawn.

Why is it falling? It was a fad. Most normal people realize these superheroes are weird when they grow up and get into tech. Super Heroes are cool until you get a certain age than you gravitate over to real people like athletes and scientists. Why do Babe Ruth and MICKEY MANTLE cards sell more than Deadpool and Venom comics because dammit Ruth and Mantle were real? nuff said.

Why is it "falling" ?
Like everything in pop culture and media there are peaks and valleys. The public is wowed by something for only so many years and then they want something different.
Nothing is perpetual and there will be a lull and one day they will become popular again.
Jeff Bezos Told His Employees, 'I Predict One Day Amazon Will Fail. Amazon Will Go Bankrupt. ' The idea here is to delay that day for as long as possible.

Ruth is the Action 1 of Baseball Card Collecting. Everyone wants the Wagner card but the Ruth is cooler to show off. Mantle Rookie was still at a time period where people were not saving these things. You are using Deadpool and Venom as a litmus and they appear during a collecting time period where everyone is not only saving them but saving these items in protective sleeves. Issue a pack of collectable scientist cards and see how they do in fifty years.

The WORST Marvel movie, in terms of Box Office Return, was 'The Marvels' and no one is STARVING because of its poor performance. Everyone got paid what they should have gotten paid at the end of the day. We see none of what the studio made from Product Placement, Toy Sales, Merchandising Deals, Digital Sales or the Future Benefit of having it show on the Disney Channel. In the end, its just didn't make a Multi-Billion Dollar Worldwide Corporation a Ton of Money, it just about broke even. Oh Boo Hoo. Marvel will be Ok.
