Honestly, what's the big deal? Just use their preferred pronouns, it's a courtesy thing. Why make it into such a big thing? I just don't understand all this drama over it.

And thats your right to feel that way. And its his right to not do that if he has religious beliefs. Compelled speech is never right. Thats Orwell stuff.

So, if someone tells you they identify as a Cat, I should just refer to them that way out of respect?

I see what youre saying-regardless of beliefs what is the harm in calling them whatever they want ie they or them? Merely doing that doesnt 'destroy your beliefs'. its simple human kindness.

And NOT doing it, would be disrespectful. This teacher was disrespectful. If someone had a son, who was... NOT full of machismo, and somewhat effeminate... but still wnated to be seen as a MAN... But the teacher decided to call him a GIRL, because that's what the teacher wanted, or thought, or saw, or POLITICALLY believed he should do... most people would see that as EXTREMELY disrespectful. And grounds for dismissal.

plus you see real joy when you use their pronouns-even the person that works at subway told me pronouns are he him so i always find a reason to say he and him and i can see it makes him happy. what is wrong with making young people happy? I'm gonna stand on my 'principles' and not do that and make a teen sad? NO

Your medical researchers, your Antarctic postmasters, your blind women stumbling around in traffic.

Funny story: I had a door guy that worked for me for many years and he had a boyfriend who was a drag queen. Very cool person, but very tough - built like a tall tree trunk. One night after work she got into it, while dressed in full drag, with some drunk knucklehead in the parking lot. Seeing a drag queen beat the crap out of some frat boy was a treasure I'll always remember. Here in Thailand, you occasionally see some drunk Westerner getting into it with a Ladyboy, forgetting that a) Thai people despite their size and laid back demeanor are extremely fierce and b) underneath whatever was done, they have the muscle structure of a man. Getting your azz handed to you by a Ladyboy on YouTube for all of eternity to see is not a flattering look. Back to my door guy's boyfriend. When he came in wearing regular clothes, he was, of course, Jimmy - and when dressed in full drag, she was 'Britney'. Jimmy knew I was cool with all of it, so we had a great relationship - so much so that I could tease her and vice versa. One night she was in the dressing room talking to a few of the dancers, dressed in full drag (strippers have a fascination with drag queens) and holding court and putting on a big performance. As I walked through, going to the office, I barely paid attention as it was a busy night, but I heard her say, "Hey Chuck", and I responded, in a smart ass dead pan way, "Hey Jimmy", and as I was going through the door I heard her jokingly say, "Oh you SON of b*tch..."

My buddy was at a concert and 2 bikers sitting down called a dude in shorts a f**. Dude stopped and said which one of you called me a f**? the bikers stood up and approached him and he proceeded to knock them out bang bang. then continued on his way. When you get knocked out you have memory loss-usually 2-5 minutes so those dolts woke up not knowing wtf happened to them. My buddy was smirking at their confusion.

You WILL affirm this post and my opinions of myself.
You WILL call me "honest", "righteous" and "superior" when addressing me - and even refer to me that way when talking ABOUT me when I'm not around.
I self-identify as "M'Lord" and you WILL address me as such and always affirm me with the terms that *I* tell you to.
And you will NOT question or disagree with my self-perception or else you WILL get fired.
Anything less from you is intolerant hatred and bigotry.

America has become a mental asylum without walls.
