Environment Canada says it has no actual data that plastics ban actually reduces plastic pollution, which was the point. {Article in Spoiler} There is no evidence a federal ban on everyday plastic products will reduce plastic pollution, says the Department of Environment. An internal report contradicted claims by Minister Steven Guilbeault that banning six types of single use plastics would make a “sustainable world.”
“Given data gaps in the current understanding of plastic waste it is challenging to draw conclusions about the relative impact of the initiative on plastic waste in Canada as a whole,” said a department report. Researchers acknowledged “accurate and comprehensive accounting of the total amount of diverted plastic waste as a result of initiative activities is not available.”
The plastics ban to be enforced effective this December 31 was introduced on a promise it would reduce the volume of landfilled plastic. “An accurate and comprehensive accounting of the total amount of diverted plastic waste is not available which limits the ability of this evaluation to assess the extent to which progress toward this outcome has been achieved,” said the report Horizontal Evaluation Of The Federal Leadership Towards Zero Plastic Waste In Canada Initiative.
Single Use Plastic Prohibition Regulations ban six types of plastic products: polystyrene food containers, cutlery, stir sticks, straws, grocery bags and six-pack rings. Use of alternatives will cost consumers $205 million next year while administration expenses to date total $64.4 million, by official estimate.
“We promised Canadians we would deliver a ban on certain harmful single use plastics,” Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said December 17. “We’re following through on that commitment.”
“We’re joining the global effort to reduce plastic pollution and protect our wildlife and habitats,” said Guilbeault. “There is a clear linkage between a world free of plastic pollution and a sustainable world.”
The Horizontal Evaluation report echoed research published in the March 2022 issue of the Marine Pollution Bulletin that the six types of plastics blacklisted in Canada were not the most commonly discarded plastic litter. “This ban fails to target litter categories that appear to make up most single use plastic litter found in Canada such as wrappers and bottle caps,” wrote Nova Scotia scientists at Dalhousie University and the Sable Island Institute.
“This study indicated current Canadian single use plastic measures are likely insufficient,” wrote researchers. The Marine Pollution Bulletin also noted a small number of food companies accounted for almost half of plastic litter: Nestlé, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Tim Hortons, Starbucks and McDonald’s.
“Understanding the main producers responsible for single use plastics in Canada through analysis of brand audit data will help to inform management approaches to reduce single use plastics and to mitigate marine litter,” said the Bulletin.
The newly-released Horizontal Evaluation report said the environment department did not know the scope of plastic litter at Canadian lakes, rivers and coastlines. “There is no clear estimate of the total amount of plastic waste in Canadian waters,” it said. “This makes it difficult, for example, to understand the relative impact of programs.”

What's more complicated? The stock market or the climate system?
The stock market is manmade, has been around and studied in detail for about 250 years and consists of factors only found within man's reasoning and understanding.
Climate Change / global warming has been studied closely only within the last 70 or so years and consists of factors that are not only NOT man made, meaning we don't fully understand them, but also is fully related to factors outside of the planet and is affected by forces that affect the galaxy.
The stock market is a man made thing.
Climate is a natural, universal thing.
It stands to reason that understanding the stock market is far easier than understand the climate.
If man can't build a successful model to predict the stock market that is accurate 51% of the time, how can man possibly model the climate accurately?
Brilliant clip.

earth receives 343 watts/sq meter from the sun. 103 are reflected. 240 reach earth. another 17 watts is reflected back by current CO2 levels until equilibrium is reached at the new temperature. A greenhouse works the same way-it gets to a certain equilibrium temp and stops-it does not keep getting warmer and warmer until the greenhouse explodes in flames. current CO2 is 400 ppm. in cambrian age it was 10 times this, 4000 ppm and temp was 3 degrees warmer than current-60 degrees. CO2 level reach max reflection at 23 watts/ sq meter with 1000 ppm CO2. after that no further warming occurs-as evidenced by cambrian temps and CO2 levels. As you can see from the graph the effect of CO2 as a warming agent drops off logarithmically with increases of CO2 until it reaches a saturation point at about 1000 ppm CO2 after which NO FURTHER WARMING OCCURS. the max earth temp from CO2 warming is 60 degrees. The end.

the people who were wrong about the weather 2 weeks ago think they know what the weather will be like 100 years from now. science: if your predictions are often wrong, your predictions are meaningless. that is science folks.

What the media is shielding from the public is how the war on Climate Change really happens.
They sell you all kinds of new gadgets to make you feel like you're changing the world but don't tell you MOST of the underprivileged world would have to starve indefinitely to clean up the atmosphere.
Your EV does nothing while countries in Asia struggle to feed their children because of expensive energy.
This 8 minute clip absolutely nails it all with a discussion that ends in one decision:
Would you push a button to emit clouds of smoke into the atmosphere so that your children don't starve and die?
Consequently, ANYBODY who is coercing you, smearing you, shaming you or attacking you in a mob to fight for climate change while making energy more expensive is in effect starving and killing billions of children on the other side of the planet.
That's logic for you.
And brought to you by a comedian no less, and not a politician or a scientist.
Duh.

And, as if on cue:
The 100% effective solution to #globalwarming and #climatechange that nobody is talking about.
This is mind blowing how simple it is.
I'm aghast.
By raising impoverished countries out of poverty, you allow them to care for the environment rather than just trying to stay alive.
The same countries that are doing the most 'damage' to the environment.
Wow.

This has been building for 3 years now since the Covid pandemic changed the face of the world.
The pandemic has through precedent now paved the way for all future emergencies to be treated the same way.

They don't understand how the earth works but they think they understand climate change. But trust them. They know exactly what they're talking about! Earth’s inner core may be reversing its rotation
Our planet may have had a recent change of heart. Earth’s inner core may have temporarily stopped rotating relative to the mantle and surface, researchers report in the January 23 Nature Geoscience. Now, the direction of the inner core’s rotation may be reversing — part of what could be a roughly 70-year-long cycle that may influence the length of Earth’s days and its magnetic field — though some researchers are skeptical. “We see strong evidence that the inner core has been rotating faster than the surface, [but] by around 2009 it nearly stopped,” says geophysicist Xiaodong Song of Peking University in Beijing. “Now it is gradually mov[ing] in the opposite direction.”

Politicians are now OPENLY talking about 15 minute cities. It's no longer a conspiracy theory. Cities will be engineered to limit your movement for the benefit of climate change. That's not Marxist or communist. Meanwhile, you can go to every warm state in the US and they will have air conditioning blasting on patios and with open doors and heaters blasting outdoors to keep you warm when it's cool.
