If we are going to do this, we should at least spell the country name correctly.
We already look stupid to the world, so we need to avoid doubling down.

Correction of the spelling is a start. thank You.
We are still in the STUPID territory, though, allowing these killers (and it has nothing to do with Islam/Religion/Sharia Law, etc.- they kill because they LIKE it and they are no more or less than the Comanche; ignorant and backward) and we will remain stupid as long as social media...ALL social media: Twitter, FB, Reddit MSNBC, Fox, CNN and including PBS and NPR and our Representatives....and the American people and the World accept letting these killers preach openly for the last few days and including this morning, but restrict speech from persons they decide are not on their "Team".

Twitter says Taliban can stay on platform if they obey rules
"Unlike former President Donald Trump, the faces and voices of the reconstituted Taliban regime in Afghanistan can apparently tweet to their hearts’ content."
Today’s Taliban uses sophisticated social media practices that rarely violate the rules

US embassy in Kabul says US government cannot ensure safe passage to airport
"The US embassy in Kabul advised American citizens today that the US government cannot ensure safe passage to the airport for those looking to flee the country.
“THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT CANNOT ENSURE SAFE PASSAGE TO THE HAMID KARZAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT,” the embassy advised American citizens in a security alert Wednesday. The alert told citizens that space on evacuation flights will now be available “on a first come, first serve basis.”
Some context: The guidance seemed to mark a significant shift from previous advisories, which told US citizens to shelter in place until they were advised by the embassy to report to the airport.
The message about the inability to ensure safe passage to the airport comes in stark contrast to comments made by National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan just a day prior. He told reporters Tuesday that the Taliban had committed to allowing safe passage for civilians to the airport.
Wednesday’s alert noted, “U.S. citizens, LPRs, and their spouses and unmarried children (under age 21) should consider travelling to Hamid Karzai International Airport,” but advises that “you may be required to wait at the airport for a significant amount of time until space is available.”"

The Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff just said the exact same thing on public radio.
It is hard. But, in their defense, the U.S. has never ever no way in history experienced the collapse of an allied Army trained and equipped by the United States Military and how do you plan for that? It is not like it is a course at West Point or Command and Staff Army War College, or anything. I mean, the present theater of operations is the size of Texas, and gee, how do you stop your head hurting when trying to figure that out when you only have 20 years in country and 7 other exact same scenarios in military history to learn from. Sheesh......

The State Dept. spokesperson yesterday looked like he should be driving a time travel car in Back To The Future. Yikes, can't we do better?

So we are in agreement that that an extremist faction of a government responsible for the oppression and murder of its own people, and once responsible for the harboring and overt protection of terrorism is capable of practicing more self restraint on a social media platform than a former president? I have no remorse for Trump losing his social media platform privileges. He was told to knock his nonsense off. He chose not to and after January 6th, he is no better than anyone else. Even now as recent as last week (Forbes) how he is talking about Ashli Babbit is and vilifying the LEO is disgusting.

Sheesh...... This was botched. No matter how the Biden team plans on spinning this there is no question that this is botched. I recently went on Facebook to make a post for the first time since November. (I was giving away a pair of concert tickets I would be using.). I was stunned by the stupidity. I called out a few people for conveniently forgetting certain things. 1 - When Biden announced back in April that he was pushing back the withdrawal from the Trump designed May date to August / September, Trump openly criticized him saying that the time table should be moved up. 2 - It is clear that the US government failed the people in Afghanastan. But I do not blame the Biden administration. This is a result of a lack of preparation that goes back across every presidency since the Bush administration. I am not blaming the Bush administration. I am saying that every administration, Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden has had the opportunity to run scenarios to develop a feasible exit strategy. The Pentagon plays war games to predict outcomes and develop strategies for various scenarios across the planet. We did not foresee this? Not buying it. 3 - Both sides of the aisle have warned that a sudden pulling the plug on Afghanistan would lead to what we are seeing and possibly devolve into something worse. The people of Afghanistan want out and want to get away from Taliban rule, the US should be doing more to make sure that anyone that wants out can get out. The McCain mentality of, "You break it you bought it" should apply here. Biden is correct that the mission was never to nation build but he should have clarified that under Bush, Obama, and Trump we tried to nation build. The moment that you had people invest in that idea, they became targets to those that are now in charge. You sold them on an idea that will now get them killed. We have a responsibility to them to get them out. Biden is correct in that the US needs to refocus its energies on China and Russia who would like nothing more than for the US to continually be tied up here. This is a page directly out of our 80's playbook when the Soviets tried playing in Afghanistan. The US was more than happy to watch them occupied there. However, there were several exit strategies that could have been utilized that would not have resulted in the chaos seen earlier this week.

This is a page directly out of our 80's playbook when the Soviets tried playing in Afghanistan. The US was more than happy to watch them occupied there. However, there were several exit strategies that could have been utilized that would not have resulted in the chaos seen earlier this week. It is obvious by your comments that you understand my post is completely satirical and somewhat scathing of our Commanding Generals, specifically the SECDEF and CJCS, both Corps size Commanders with hands on military Command and Control experience in the Afghanistan theater, not to mention the other serving Officers of the Joint Chiefs, all of whom have the same Corps size experience in the Middle East theater. I wont' address the political commentary of any particular POTUS, although I agree that the last 20 years has seen questionable military decisions, but every POTUS during that time frame made decisions based on the input of the SECDEF and CJCS. Right or wrong, the Commander in Chief is charged with the final decision. I don't care about party affiliation or the politics. My comments are only concerning...and limited to... the military option and the decision to use same, and ever changing and an ever evolving scenario, to be sure. There is prominent reporting that is being copied and stated by media and the average person on the street that a "Corps" did not engage and collapsed. A Corps is 2-5 Divisions, and is 20-45,000 Troops. The Afghan Military was organized as 5 combat Corps. The last figures I saw was about 190,000, in 2020. Since approximately 2017, the U.S. has known that a majority were payroll names, and the best "guess" was possibly 2 maximum full compliment (45,000 per Corps) combat ready Corps "available". These 90,000 troops were "strategically" placed in 6 locations in the theater. the key was air support. It is important to remember that the U.S. undertook a combat mission in a completely land locked theater of operations. How many times in our military history has this occurred? 0. The Doha Agreement removed U.S. military air support. The Afghan Air Force was about 6,000, and a questionable amount of serviceable aircraft, 450 or so on paper but not in reality. The U.S. had removed the aircraft contractors that supplied and maintained the aircrafts, fixed and rotary wing. To put it in perspective, this scenario was a Kobayashi Maru experiment, and our military failed miserably, and the real failure is we knew all the factors of the experiment beforehand, So, like Kirk, the only answer was to cheat. Nope, for the last 20 years, our CJCS and POTUS didn't do that. The Kirk solution was ignored, and CJCS unknowingly devised a Kobayashi for Afghanistan, and the entire Middle East moving forward: Save the PFC, or save the Corps Commander? Which did we save, the PFC or the Corps Commander? Which did we save, the civilians aboard the Kobayashi Maru, or the Corps Commanders on the Bridge of the Enterprise?
