Got my copy of Bass Reeves. Follows the story of Bass Reeves, a real life former slave who became a U.S. Marshall after escaping his owner/captor at some point during the Civil War, hiding out in Native American Indian territory until 1865. This issue basically just introduces him, his family, and shows his swearing in. Standard 32 pages, with 5-6 being non-story pages. I’m willing to follow the series for a few issues, assuming I can actually find it as it’s a Walmart exclusive. Digital bundles are too expensive for my tastes($17.98 for 4 issues, one each of the publishers four titles). The art reminds me of Rob Guillory(Chew), but I can’t quite pinpoint why.   |

The scene with the bull reminds me of Paul Bunyan and Babe. |

I just saw these at Walmart the other day. Has anyone read any of them? Only Bass Reeves. These are coming out at a snail’s pace and the 5th announced title has been delayed as well. |

Some Walmart three-packs have valuable surprises inside. VariantGate: Walmart Sells Other Comic Shop's Exclusive Marvel Covers"reports from all over are coming in of so many people finding Walmart packs with covers that were previously issued to comic store retailers as 1:500 or 1:1000 tiered variant covers, that comic stores had to put a lot of money down to buy. One of the reasons print run totals often could not be stated/determined accurately over the past decade or so where incentive variants are concerned. |

There has been speculation for years that there are always far more copies of any issue allocated for variant production than promoted in order to satisfy the minimum publishing run requirement. Things like this lend support to that belief. |
