Damn Roy, you've got one of the coolest jobs in the world and you're spending your time worrying about something you can do nothing about.
You have carved your place in the universe - you've provided for your family - you've reached out to help those less fortunate when you can - you've reached a safer level of financial freedom - that's all you can do.
If there's a power out there doing exactly what you're saying - no way is anyone ever going to change it or take it down.
You'd be better served to teach people how to stand on their own two feet than to gnash teeth over totalitarian power that rules the planet and can never be stopped.
Just sayin'.

Real Sopapillas
I used to go to a Mexican Restaurant in college called El Chico's, and I haven't seen one since. There they served Sopapillas, like bread BEFORE the meal, puffed up, light and fluffy and served with a side of honey butter. Thanks to the power of the Internet, I have found the recipe...
4 cups of flower 2 teaspoons of baking powder 1 teaspoon of salt 4 tablespoons of shortening 1 1/2 cups of warm water 2 its oil for frying
In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt and shortening. Stir in water; mix until dough is smooth. Cover and let stand for 20 minutes.
Roll out on floured board until 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 3 inch squares. Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
And a great tip I found on getting them right: To those having problems getting a good "puff" out of your sopapillas, here are some tips, all of which are related to keeping your oil at the right temperature: 1. Use adequate oil. You want at least an inch depth of oil to fry in. Contrary to what some believe, more oil in the pot means less oil in your food, because the temperature stays more constant, and the food finishes cooking before it begins sucking up oil. 2. You need an candy/fry thermometer. Don't trust strange voodoo methods like timing the cooking of bread cubes. Don't trust your electric skillet's temperature controller (mine is off by about 75 degrees!) Spend $10 and buy a thermometer. There's no excuse to guess at the temperature when it's so cheap and easy to measure it. 3. Don't overload the oil. When I made these, I was frying no more than 2 sopapillas at a time. Putting food into hot oil is like dropping an ice cube into a warm beverage -- the food is going to cool the oil around it. Putting a lot of food in will dramatically drop your oil temperature. This is especially bad if you're also violating point #1 and not using enough oil.

Buzzetta sees that as HIS forum now. And really at this point, it is. He sits on his throne with his little court jester Kav, who always defers to him as the final say on any matter. It's almost comical to watch them perform. Buzz even openly talks as if HIS opinion is the final say on any matter, and all of their little cronies 'theCapraAegagrus', and 'ADMANTIUM' and 'Comics4all' and 'onlyweaknesskryptonite'... it really is a sad sight to behold. When did THESE guys become the CGC Boards?
They aren't experts on Comic Books or Grading or Restoration... Those people are mostly gone. It's run by posers now.
Watching Buzz try and school Bedrock was a huge laugh.
The amount of great boardies who simply no longer want to be a part of that forum because of all of that kind of nonsense... it really is a sad sight to behold.
It's run it's race. It's over.
The CGC forum is over.

But at least he has the balls to come here and explain himself unlike some of the other members from the shade board So I give him a lot of credit for at least showing up here and talking to you about it That's only because he's incapable of shutting up and this forum gives him another chance to "hear" himself talk. I've posted in various forums over the last 20+ years....and I've run into a few man-children during that time......but not like this. Just look at how fast he started screaming for Mike to intervene when a forum search for a specific phrase was linked in the forum. Watching him go ape e over that was pure comedy. Perhaps he didn't like it because the results of that search looked like they were caught in a feedback loop. He's quick to screech at others about rules and how they're breaking them (when he's not humping the button on them). But his CONSTANT off-topic posts and spamming the boards with the same nonsense phrases are a DIRECT violation of two forum rules designed specifically to address those issues. That's not even debatable. He breaks the forum rules every single day he posts. Most people just don't constantly hump the button like him....so he gets away with it. Damn. This is the place to be. Where the have I been?

Haven't we seen this backlash coming?
Has CGC been proactive enough to try and keep it from growing?
If not, they may want to start quickly, because I have a feeling it's about to get worse.

There's one seller of slabs who pictures them with a middle-aged asian woman standing in a hallway next to a staircase. It's creepy. She's actually leaning her head against the cases in several pictures. Hey, if middle-aged asian women are your thing, great, but that's just gross in my opinion. A few massages in the seedy part of L.A. and you'll be singing a new tune in no time.

I dislike the 90's Image artist way of doing things, as I think it messed up the traditional storytelling style for mainstream comics. However, I don't believe an artist HAS to necessarily work in that form to do the job correctly. As an example, many of the artist's that both Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman have used on different projects throughout their careers, complemented the story more with mood and creative imagery to complement the story, than outright showing what was written. (Though they both have shown they can work within the traditional mode as well). I don't think modern comics do very well with either way these days, though they certainly believe they lean toward the traditional still. Most of the really good storyteller/artist... Sean Phillips, uh... Marcos Martin... uh... anyway they generally tend to gravitate toward the independent comic scene... Of course there's Romita Jr., who, despite what we think of his work these days, does still tell the story pretty clearly in his art... But yeah... I think those Inage guys ruined it.

That and, besides the initial surge, really built on speculation (I wasn't a fan of Liefeld and still bought Youngblood #1) - Image faltered a great deal over the course of the first 15 years. Really, what saved that company and helped them get to 25 years as healthy as they now are, is Stephenson's direction and Kirkman's Walking Dead. Todd is rich enough to publish Spawn forever, regardless of poorly it sells, Larsen has enough of a fan base to keep Savage Dragon going; but neither of them are a blip to the Big Two.
