I actually live in the US now but partly grew up in the UK and hence growing up with those titles. I remember buying US comics but they were modified slightly, the paper, size etc were different. Didn't know you were in the UK Bats!

I can't believe you've read the BEano! Thats really famous! I didn't bring those up s thought that migh tnot have interested you. The Dandy (desperate Dan especially) and the Buster (Billy Whizz especially) were really famous to. Thanks for the pic! Tiger was the best it had a bunch of stories: Johnny Cougar about an American wrestler, Billy Boots (used to put on soccer cleats) and they were sort of magical made him win) and Death Wish amongst other stories. How did you get these UK comics in the US? I live in the UK I take it you do too...? Yeah, I read most of the UK kids comics. Beano, Dandy, Whizzer & Chips, Buster. Billy Whiz (Beano BTW) I always said was Britain's answer to The Flash

Janus Stark was before my time but I used to read my older brothers Annuals. The big thing was annuals back then. Basically hard backed comics came out once a year with extra long stories of the main characters found in the weekly or biweekly comics.

Yeah 2000 AD was really famous! A copycat of American comics was called Scream! it was really good kind of a cross between House of Secrets and the old EC: Comics;https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scream!_(comics)
Also I am sure you have geard of Dan Dare but that's SciFi....I'll have to think way back and fill you in on some other good ones!

Hey Bats,
Am not sure what kind of comics you like but I used to read a character called Janus Stark back in Europe. It was old when i used to read it but had been reprinted. Other cool UK comics was Death Wish from Tiger comics. The trouble with UK comics is that even the covers were newspaper type paper so they really fell apart!

Hi yes I guess what i emant to clarify is that the reverse side of the book can be seen on ebay and has a brown line half way across the back, there i also discoloration on the front cover. There are 7 or so other 9.6's on the market somewhere and they might be better "to my liking"

Hah! Hah! I fell for that one hook line and sinker (even though he did not mean to)! I thought as in bonding (glue) with CGC case!

Thank you ever so much steveinthecity! This one was one of the copies I had! It's weird there are a large number of these in 9.8 and none in the other numbers....could never figure that one out. Have a good weekend! Thanks again for the heads up. I would love to get a 225 in 9.8. There was a 9.6 on eBay but its not in too great shpe especially the reverse side.

I saw that there were posts om Atlas Comics and especially number 1 Targitt. I grew up partly in France and remember reading these types of characters in their comics. They looked American, dressed and sounded American out of the 1970's, kind of like Archer but a comic book and not a spoof.
