What kind of start time is 6:45? Metric
6:45 was the usual start time for a 45 minute prog. It took the viewer to 7:30 when the serious programmes started. Prior to that you'd have a 20 minute cartoon and a 25 minute sitcom. No ads on the Beeb.

I love that pic
Nope, no ads. We pay an annual TV licence fee for the BBC so they operate without adverts. It's been that way since the dawn of British Television. The Beeb was around long before the commercial channels so it's unlikely to change.
Interestingly (I say "interestingly"... wake up!) the Beeb was forced to stop advertising its own "Radio Times" magazine as it was in breach of the licence fee agreement which stated no adverts would be shown.

I'd name him Lucifuge Rofocale. Either that or Frank.

I just noticed something interesting...on the back cover of San Diego Comicon Comics #2 (1993), it lists the guests for the next year's SDCC. Jack Kirby is listed as one of them. Jack, unfortunately, died the following February, and didn't make the show.
