Couple of things... 1. You can't respect someone for "being direct", if you won't be direct yourself. It comes off as disingenuous. Since you refuse to be direct, this post lacks meaning. 2. That's not the way slym "feels." "Feelings" are fleeting, and should never be relied on for any reason. How you "feel" can change by any of a hundred different factors. It's what slym THINKS, the conclusion he has come to, using reason and logic, not his "feelings." What a hypocrite I was direct with him in the PM he initiated with me on the CGC boards and he not only bailed on the PM but put me on ignore because he couldn't handle my directness. Here's a bit of advice for Guest510 because I know you're reading this, little snowflake. Physician heal thyself.

Just got this from one of the biggest SS guys in the business: Wanted to buy a book off eBay. My response: "XXXXX....you handle hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of other people's merchandise a year, do you not? Trust is foundational to this business, but you don't see a problem with stealing from eBay? Stealing IS that serious. How can anyone be trusted who thinks stealing isn't a big deal? No off eBay deals. If it's listed on eBay, I sell it through eBay. They bring me the customers, they get their money, as high as it may be. And don't get pissed at me because I told you the truth. I want to be trustworthy, too." This is one of the BIG BIG SS guys. Exclusive "contracts", the works. BIG SS guy. Doesn't think that stealing from eBay is "that serious." People send this guy hundreds, if not thousands, of their valuable books a year to get signed. The disconnect is staggering sometimes. You gave them tacit approval. Your "mockery" (such as it was) encouraged them to keep doing it. Are you not aware of that? Do you know what "tacit" means? What is "questions that will never be answered in this lifetime for $2,000". Alex. 1. How do you know who someone likes and doesn't like, when they haven't said that themselves? That is presumptuous arrogance, that you imagine you know who someone else likes and doesn't like. You are presumptuously arrogant. 2. Why do you imagine people base their decisions on whether or not they "like" someone? That's just situational ethics. I've told people who I like that they were wrong, and I've lost respect for people because they chose to do wrong things. 3. Why are you so obsessed with people liking you, and project that on everyone else? Do you think there aren't people in this world who do things based on wrong and right, and not whether or not they "like" someone? What is "more "questions that will never be answered in this lifetime for $2,000". Alex. Grow up, boy. That doesn't just "offend" my moral code; it's simply a matter of right and wrong. Since you are lawless, you don't HAVE much concept of right and wrong, only "what feels good and what does not." But there is, in fact, a real right and a real wrong. Might be. Might not be. But that's none of your business, and not relevant to this discussion. And why is "biggest" in quotes, as if 1. it's not true, and 2. it has any relevance to this discussion? Because you're a liar, and therefore have to imply that everyone else is lying, too, on even the smallest, most irrelevant details. "Stealing free advertising"? You really don't understand contracts, do you? Where did I "say" they can "make a deal off eBay when the 30 days are up"? (not that they can't, but you can't keep your stories straight.) 1. No. In this case, the "sig series guy" isn't breaking the rules...he's only suggesting they be broken. You don't...or refuse to...understand these distinctions, so pay attention: I'm educating you, boy. The BUYER doesn't pay eBay (directly) for anything. It is the SELLER who pays their fees, and it is ONLY the seller who can actually circumvent those fees. 2. Far more importantly...the crux of the matter...a seller does NOT GIVE the right to eBay to be the venue of sale in perpetuity. Listings have DURATIONS (even "Good Til Cancelled" has 30 day cycles.) Once that listing is ended, I CANNOT sell the item. and am PREVENTED from selling the item. under that listing. If I want to relist the item, I must do so under an entirely NEW listing number. The old listing is EXPIRED. It no longer serves as a means to buy the item, and the seller is NO LONGER obligated to sell the item through eBay. If a buyer sees the item, and wants to wait it out for a "better deal", they're taking the risk that someone else will buy it. Fairly straightforward. But one more time, since you (and apparently shrewbeer) don't understand what the obligation a seller has to eBay actually means: once the listing is OVER, the seller is NO LONGER obligated to sell the item through eBay. If the seller RELISTS the item on eBay, that obligation begins anew, until THAT NEW listing has ended. That's how it works. 3. Why are you calling someone "Person A", when there's no "Person B, C, D", etc, to make such a distinction necessary in the first place? Do you understand what I've just said?

Good post. Jeez, I've never sold on eBay and I understand seller's obligations better than these "playas". But I suppose if you can't understand and respect right and wrong on any level, what else should be expected?

Check this out when you have some time

Back then my brother and I adopted the two finger flip off combined with the "up yours ugly" for times we couldn't use the middle finger.

Just got a package from Canada. Comic was in a ratty old bag with no backer board and "protected" by two very thin sheets of cardboard. No padding and wrapped in what appears to be brown paper bag material only slightly thicker. At least it wasn't a high dollar book

You know that sound, when you're so flumoxed that you just put your face in your palm, and release an involuntary groan...? Yeah, that's what I just did. Customer is in Europe. He wants 14 slabs. (I don't say "quit trying to steal the taxes and eBay fees you rightfully owe, cheapskate." I WANT to, but I don't.) (Meanwhile, I start accepting his offers, and ending the listings.) Ugnghhh....

People are pretty amazing.
Can you imagine?
"Hey, before you sell these to someone else, can you give ME a head's up...?"
No, friend, I can't.
Presumption is awesome.

I take it there's not many of those around? No. 100 (or so.) And sad to say, a couple of sold for songs in the last decade, and I missed them. I still have one, though.

This quote: ...is pretty amazing, but not at all surprising. "Why even bother trying to work it out with the seller when you don't have to? That's work. I'd rather just file a claim and screw up somebody's life, because I don't give two s about anyone but me." Lawlessness. It's not surprising that he thinks that, but it's AMAZING that he would come right out and say it. How has he escaped being put on the Probation List...?
