Interesting observation: X51 is "Defiant1" for you old, old, olllllddd timers. He's been banned, or self-banned, from just about every comic message board that exists. Very odd duck. No worries, though...if CBCS just bans everybody, they won't have to worry about the terrible forum any more. Oooooh! People talking about me!
There is nothing normal about me. You were very polite in your wording for that.
The suspension note is technically flawed. I asked a member if he had an Autism spectrum disorder. It was not an insult nor was it intended as one. It was very honest and serious question. Since I was already fed up with the board, I gave a conditional insult to Jesse and said he was an if he could not clearly discern the difference between a question an an insult. My real insults are far more degrading and offensive than anything I've ever said there. I will applaud Jesse for clearly stating that I requested the permanent ban. The user I had a problem with clearly has some kind of mental issue and I get tired of people who have no reading comprehension skills. I was ready to drop out anyway. If you scroll back on my posts a week or so prior, you will see where I stated that posting there (or not) was done on a whim.
All Jesse did was assure that CBCS never gets a dime of my money for grading my comics. I'm not upset in the least. He lost them a future customer. I cannot think of any boards where I was actually banned. The history books may record it that way because I gave some the finger when I choose to exit.
The Valiant Comics message board had a vote once among the members as to whether I should be banned. The members voted in favor of me staying. I opted to leave because I saw that some of the people I'd done favors for did vote for me to be banned. I don't care to associate with two faced people. I requested that my account be permanently be locked at CGC.
Comic books are just a sentimental recreation of mine. I work with brilliant engineers that have patents in their name. I deal with state of the art technology that makes the world run from an industrial scope. Stepping out of that world and stepping into an online argument about "media mail" or a discussion titled "where do you buy your comic bags"... that feels like my brain is rotting.
Maybe it has. I don't plan on posting here regularly. I just saw that this message board had referred some people to mine. My board is more of a blog. I delete inactive accounts aggressively and no longer make efforts to promote it.
DEFIANT1
Just found this serendipitously "I've been running websites with my limited skills since the late 90's. I started out just providing links to security software and giving tips & software links for free file conversions. At one point, one of my pages was evidently featured on TechTV. The show notes directed people to my page and and knocked if offline. I had over a half-million web hits. I ran it all anonymously. The "identity" I used was offered for sale on eBay. I had a usenet newsgroup named after me. It wasn't setup properly so you couldn't post to it, but it was and is still out there. I exchanged email with Lisa Ling and Kari Wuhrer. If you know who Kevin Mitnick is, I inadvertently struck up an email exchange with his girlfriend. Kevin was the most notorious hacker in US history. I switched over to comic book pages after my site started attracting stalkers. Running a website offering security tips attracted visits from every major branch of the federal govt. including whitehouse.gov, senate.gov., houseofrepresentatives.gov. I got visits from every branch of the military. I got visits from govt. research facilities that I didn't even know existed. The final straw was 9/11. That was when all the back door methods to maintain privacy were sealed shut. I'm weird. I'm stubborn. But I know a lot of "stuff" that people don't realize I know. I'm easily bored, so I read stuff and venture out seeking info that most people wouldn't try to seek out. There are ways to make a footprint online, but it's more difficult than it was in the beginning. I'm a nobody, but I can assure you of that much."

Was this at CGC as Defiant1? IIRC he was Dgarthwaite at CGC and no, this was from Whett's chatboard. I was looking at some old bookmarks I didn't recognize and it led me there.

That's right- 99% of that forum is all about selling and flipping. Well, I guess that's okay if that's what the site is for. I have a hard time reading the posts. I won't say all posts are like this, but it seems every one I read has little real love for the book- It's $$$. That doesn't anger me since, as mentioned, that's why it's there, but it bothers me- Like a nature program showing a Lion killing a rival's cubs; It's not for me, and I don't need to see it. Thanks for the link and reminder, though

20 years of butthurt "There used to be no mechanism for returns or getting your money back. eBay and Paypal shielded themselves from transactions. You were completely at the mercy of sellers, and they ripped people off left and right...especially in condition sensitive hobbies, like comics and coins. There was the occasional time when I'd successfully fight one of these frauds, so I'd tell the people on the eBay comics board (on which I was a charter member)...and some of those people (including some of the most "respected" members on this board) claimed I was "bragging" about ripping the sellers off by "extorting" a partial refund...and accusing me of the very fraud I was fighting. So you not only got the accusations from the fraudulent sellers...but also from your "supposed" colleagues, who *should* have been in a position to sympathize with you!"

From the CGC board, in the MCS thread: "I haven't bought much from them in the past few years, but I still get their weekly email newsletter. Lately, the inclusion in those messages of political content and opinion that I don't agree with has really turned me off from a) reading any more (I just unsubscribed) or b) ordering. I'm definitely not going to tell them what they can or should say -- it's Buddy's business and he can do what he pleases. But I've decided to not order anything else from them because of it regardless of how good their prices are (they are good) or customer service (I've only heard good things)." This seems utterly ridiculous to me - like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Does anyone here feel like Raphe does? Would/has anybody ever not bought from someone because of their political views? I don't understand. Then again, I don't understand why UncaBen stopped posting here because I make shill IDs on the CGC board

"It depends". I recall the reason Unca Ben left was quite different.
