Any idea how or where these were distributed? I'm pretty sure I've never seen a McD's promo comic before.

I'm not sure, but I imagine they came in Happy Meals?I've got my nephews and nieces-I get myself the toy if available-some books in Happy Meals, usually come in a sealed plastic bag.Never comics, but it would be similar I think. I found above when I googled promotional comics and it brought me here www.mycomicshop.com/search?SeriesID=46264186 If shipping wasn't harsh to Canada I'd likely order one of the cheapies available.A MCS 2.0 is usually nicer than that And Deep Sea Danger(only one available at this time) looks pretty fun.

Back in '94 or so I knew a young woman who had a room in her house with shelves filled with Happy Meal toys. She believed she had all of them up to that time, but maybe not, unless she didn't consider the books/comics to be toys or worth collecting.

It's about time to hit the fartsac for me,maybe I'll look it up some tomorrow(If you haven't first,I'll check,ha!)Sometimes I'll see happy meal toys I remember my sister having at thrift shops and grab them out of nostalgia.I got the free 'treat of the week' when I was younger mostly, but I do have some penny racers and McTransformers from when I was pretty young.I might go down a treat of the week rabbit hole search tomorrow to.Did you have those Stateside?I did get myself a modern Hotel Transylvania set of HM and I admit to having other hoardstuff. To stay a bit on topic, from comicbookrealm:

That's a neat piece of Mariner's memorabilia. I wonder if these came out prior to or during the season when fans were still excited for a possible repeat of the 116 win season? It looks like a fun story full of Bigfoot(Bigfoots? Bigfeets?) and corny jokes.

I remember in 1996 trying to collect all 10 of the McDonald's Smurfs...
After binging on McDs and even buying them on their own, I still needed to get two of them. I was dating this nice young lady at the time who, surprisingly, didn't think it odd I was collecting Smurfs (I had most of them as a kid and couldn't resist). When I told her I still needed two of them, she told me her flatmate worked at McDs and she'd ask him to get them for me. About a week later I had the full set! I still have them today.

They had so many comeback wins their motto was "two outs? So what". It was awesome. And they have sucked ever since 2001... They had a bunch of goofy local commercials like that comic. The knuckleball pitcher whose fastball was like 85 mph tops was using a Canadian radar gun to fool people (kilometers ya know)
