A political cartoon from 1798 with John Bull (an everyman in the UK) showing his uh, displeasure with King George.

Welcome, sodamintjimmers!
I like to talk about finding books in the wild in here!
And other things, comics related mostly.

Back in the early 2000s, I was searching out incomplete and coverless Golden Age comic deals on eBay, mostly Timelys. I found a seller from the Philipines that had a few coverless comics for sale and I bought one or two. I communicated with him afterwards and he said he had more of them, but he didn't know how to find out what title or issues they were. So we made a deal that he would send me lists of the titles of the interior stories for each comic, and I would tell him what comic it was if I could, and for my payment he would send me whichever one of the books I wanted for free.
And that's how I got 8 wraps of Captain America 1.

Was that a good deal for Weird 2 coverless? I would assume so.

It was raining this morning so nothing good going as far as garage/tag sales. I'm sure Father's Day weekend is a dampener as well.
Going to a different flea tomorrow upstate with the wife and dog. Should be fun, I've been instructed to have lunch at the local hot dog place, apparently a legendary local establishment that makes its own hotdogs from scratch!
Even if the flea is a bust, as long as the sun is shining and the hotdogs are good, then that's alright.

Was that a good deal for Weird 2 coverless? I would assume so. At twenty Canadian dollars I was pretty chuffed. It's a little brittle at places, and heck, the cover is the best part but probably the only copy i'll get!

Fun day today out with the wife and dog. Everywhere we bring him he's a hit!
The hotdogs were pretty tasty, the place is called Walters in Mamaroneck NY. It's a little walkup place shaped like a pagoda. According to a sign outside it's an historic landmark and has been in business since 1928!
Found some comics as well. Got thirty five comics for $25, couple few $10 comics in there to pay for the rest.

1798 still, kinda surprised actually. But that's how it goes, it'll sit awhile and then pop off two or three in a day.

As of the start of 1798, the Gregorian calendar was 11 days ahead of the Julian calendar, which remained in localized use until 1923. What if Greg's calendar was the right one!?
