Ok I checked out one of the links and it's not what I was thinking of. BUT seeing the intro I definitely remember the show. I believe that's around the time we first got a VCR. We taped the show because it was shown on a night we had hockey practice. I remember first seeing the Motorhead Iron Fist video on that show, and we had some episodes of The Young Ones recorded on the same tape. Cool. I don’t recall an Iron Fist vid, but just watched it—brought back a lot of memories. And Young Ones? You were way ahead of us finding that stuff. I like to see “metal” or punk stuff made in that era to compare to my own memories. Metal in particular, as I was around for the “Satanic panic” and how others treated us or viewed the hard rock/metal world then fascinates me now. I'm with you on all that! I was a senior in high school when the PMRC had their hearings, so I was very much into it. The Metal Mania episode I watched was from around the same time, and the reason we were watching Young Ones was that MTV started airing them around the same time in June of 1985 The other Motorhead video we loved was "Chase is Better than the Catch". Here was Lemmy in all his glory, missing teeth from speed use and snarling at the camera. We loved when looks right at the camera and growls "I ain't!!" 1:18

Have you ever wanted to watch the very first 4 hours of MTV, complete with commercials and promos? linkI watched the first 45 minutes of so...pretty cool. The only video I liked was Pat Benatar (man she had a mouth full of teeth ). Also, I didn't see a single overweight or obese person anywhere on videos, commercials or promos except the fat girl in some video who was pulling stuff to eat out of her saxophone. They kept advertising a sticker to put on your radio to tune in MTV in stereo. For some reason I don't remember that.

You also don't see many African Americans either. MTV was started by a rock n roll white boy. Well, I admit they're just crappy live videos, but thank god for Iron Maiden! There are a couple other catchy tunes their, but the videos, uff da. That Pat Benatar video was super sexy though This YT channel has the first 50 videos. That's a new one on me too, and I only live about 2 hours from NY. I get stations from Hartford, Boston, and Providence so you'd've thought we'd be in the loop.

Looking at the first 100 videos, besides Maiden I had to scroll down to #53 to find a song on my playlist

Yeah, I watched some documentary fairly recently about how they had to be pushed into playing Michael Jackson's Billy Jean video, and then realized that there was a market for black artists. Bunch of dummies. As an aside, Michael Jackson admitted to Daryl Hall that he lifted the bass line for Billy Jean from I Can't Go For That. www.newyorker.com/culture/goings-on/was-billie-jean-lifted

Probably true. I almost never watch the Simpsons. This doesn’t seem too off base as it jibes with my own experience as a Simpsons viewer. At least through the 90’s this was one of a small handful of shows I’d always try to catch, but my interest gradually waned. I know I’ve seen a few episodes over the past few months, but I don’t even remember them. It’s become like background noise to me. The hullabaloo over Apu a year or so back was further off putting to me, and now they’ve come out to say no white actors will voice non-white characters going forward. Maybe just me, but I never really thought of cartoon characters that way. I just took them as they were: blue hair, giant feet, space alien, duck, dog, whatever, etc. *sigh* I’m sure as part of the Simpson’s Producers commitment to diversity they’ll still allow Nancy Cartwright to do voices of male characters, notably Bart. I’d like them to reconsider Ralph and bring in a dim witted, paste eating, verbally challenged 8 year old to voice that role, but I won’t hold my breath.

For me it translates. I found it funny. Made me miss Phil Hartman.

Has anybody seen the show “Collector’s Call” hosted by Lisa Welchel(Blair from “Facts Of Life”)?
I finally caught an episode where the interview subject was Alan Stewart, owner/operator of a comic museum(Hall Of Heroes)in Elkhart, Indiana. They showed some older pieces of memorabilia from tv and movies which were assessed by a Peter Pryzsiekny(sp?) as to value. The show ended with Peter offering a trade of Detective Comics 140 CGC 3.0 for a raw copy of ‘Tec 69 which of course was declined.
They also showed a Sensation #1 CGC 8.0 Qualified which was assessed lower than purchase price due to the (new) restoration. This Hall Of Heroes claims to have the 4th largest comic collection in the world. Nothing in the show would lead me to believe that. They did have a 1939 Superman action figure/doll that I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of. Supposed to be one of two in existence.

Wicked funny. Pissah! I noticed he said that the wicked fat kid is in Concord, but that's not between Hartford and Sturbridge Adam also mentions Muny Court with the speeding ticket. New Englanders seem to have a thing with Municipal Court - we like to go and argue that we're right and you're wrong Proof of this is the popularity of Caught in Providence, a local show about RI citizens fighting traffic tickets. I had no idea the show was now nationally syndicated! www.providencejournal.com/news/20180829/caught-in-providence-to-begin-national-syndication-sept-24
