I actually like the film, mostly.

I'm going to be a difficult audience for Spike to win over.
I love the Novella and view it as one of King's best, so if it's not done really well I probably won't like it much.

I'm going to go into this with a Marvel mindset, not expecting it to be very much like what I read. That might give it a fighting chance, but I don't remember reading that the mist "new" anyone.

Yeah, me either. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from Under the Dome, which I thought was a weak effort by King and an even weaker TV production by CBS.

To be honest, most of Kings work hasn't translated well to screen.

Darabont is really the only one to come close to trying to stay faithful, but I think King is just difficult outside of print.

I'll just watch The Stand again The Stand should have been a 5 parter because they completely ignored (or underplayed) the free zone section of the story. And the relationship between Harold and Fran was all wrong.

And the relationship between Harold and Fran was all wrong. Yeah, there were issues. I didn't realize how much had been changed until I read it the first time (complete and uncut book version). It would have been awesome if they could have done it in a mini season format, like is done with some shows today. That was probably unheard of back then though

I'm curious why they wouldn't want to remake it now in that type of format. They could tell a more complete story

It's not like Hollywood is afraid of re-makes or anything. Hey, Hollywood! Why you keep re-making good films? There was nothing wrong with The Manchurian Candidate. The first The Mummy was good. Why not take BAD movies and re-make them, eh?

I gave it a shot.
The writing is really bad.
I can't even force myself to watch it when nothing else is on.
