I wish we could compare 'both' books. The chain of custody is broken when they cracked it out before sending for pressing.

Me too...although I do believe him based on his comments and attitude about the matter. My issue with grading companies and trimming/micro-trimming is that we have seen over and over again for years and years that they cannot reliably and consistently detect this type of restoration. And since the defect can easily shave off 75% of the book's value, it would probably be best for the hobby if the grading companies just admitted they are clueless on this issue and stop pretending they can detect something they cannot.

It definitely serves as a reminder that no one is perfect, but I feel better applying that to their grading rather than their resto check.
