I find solace in buying collected editions. Not as much pressure IMO.

Same here, but sometimes the urge is hard to resist. It really is, and when the companies decide on re-numbering their books then it's a great time to stop. The renumbering is a desperate attempt to get attention...worked for me early on, but not anymore for the most part. Batman Damned is a new format and I am willing to give it a shot but I am weary!

I gave up new Marvel and DC comics 15+ years ago. It was surprisingly easy when you factor in the rising cover prices, the endless reboots and renumbering, the abandonment of any semblance of continuity, and finally, the change in storytelling away from everything I loved about comics from the 70s and 80s.
I highly recommend quitting. It's very liberating. It also frees up money to buy the older comics I really want to buy.

I don't think I'll ever get rid of my Pull List. There's always at least one title out there that I want to get monthly. Jeffro, have you ever read Astro City? It's the title I recommend to old school collectors who are disillusioned by Moderns. It's been on my list for 25 years, and as long as it's published I'll have a Pull List.

Astro City is one bright spot of old school in a sea of new crappola although I haven't followed it in recent years. I keep meaning to pick up that recent (well somewhat recent) Teen Titans graphic novel by Wolfman and Perez www.amazon.com/New-Teen-Titans-Comics-Graphic/dp/1401203191I also have enjoyed a few non-Marvel/DC offerings such as Manhattan Projects, Sixth Gun, and Manifest Destiny but none seem to hold my interest for very long.

Thing is, I like the comic format and I still find stuff I enjoy reading, but for some titles I'll just wait for the tpb rather than concern myself with picking up books monthly. I feel I get a better value with tpb's, but I don't really try out new titles that way, so I know I'm missing out on comics I'd otherwise enjoy. One reason I'm hoping the experiment with Walmart is successful is I'd like to see expanded distribution at a lower price per page even if it is reprints. I'd love to see something like an older title being collected in giant-size format with 5-6 issues reprinted in chronological order for example.

I have a few copies coming in from DCBS that I ordered a couple months back. I hope they're in as nice of condition as yours. I'm sure they will be all MINT Fiddy! I plan on ordering 2 copies of Batman Damned #2 from DCBS. I am jealous that you bought yours below cover price, I paid $30 for this copy!! I did buy 2 variant copies for $16.99 each but they haven't arrived yet...and I am worried because I bought them from a place called ZoomComix online which I had never heard of, but it was the last place I found that still had copies. I am crossing my fingers. I'm getting a little concerned that my books won't arrive. It's been in Preparing to Ship status for over a week. I hope it goes out on Monday.

I never did get around to scanning yet (sorry, jimmers) because I had a box full of Marvel Team-Ups incoming. They're here, so I'll scan my next days off. In the meantime, my brother recently did a Meet and Greet with Deep Purple, and he got me an autographed drum head.
