I sincerely doubt I could ever bake a brownie whilst trying to hold a position only the greatest Olympian could manage. Yeah... The obvious solution is to squat with your back against the door holding it shut, is it not...? I'd get one of those novelty dog s (I used to have one, they did look real) and place it on the floor just under the door so it's visible to anyone approaching.

Have you ever noticed that when people say "with all due respect", it's usually when they mean it the least...?

Have you ever noticed that when people say "with all due respect", it's usually when they mean it the least...? Same with lines like "I'm not racist, but..." and then you hear some racist-ass statement.

I tangle with people on a regular basis. It's my nature, my personality. And sure, sometimes I do it to put people in their places, but for the most part, it's just because I don't want anyone...even the adversaries...to believe things that aren't true. Now, don't get me wrong...that's not a claim of "I'm always right, and if someone disagrees with me, they're wrong." Not at all. There's genuine differences of opinion by earnest people about what course to take, and what's really true. But a lot of things ARE knowable, and a lot of things aren't (currently) knowable, and weeding through the bull can be a little daunting sometimes. That said...I do grow fond of regulars, and miss people when they disappear, for one reason or another. I miss Beau, for instance, quite a bit, and I know I probably won't see him again for a very long time, and certainly not in this realm. Hell, if jaydogrules disappeared, I'd wonder where he'd gotten to. I might not MISS him, per se, but I'd still wonder what happened. Random thoughts.

I'm not a racist, but if someone doesn't get off their ass and work, I don't care what color it is, you're a lazy .

Have you ever noticed that when people say "with all due respect", it's usually when they mean it the least...? I once had a junior work colleague who overused that term. She never used it again after I said "that only works if you mean it".

It works when you're trying to make a sticky point to someone who is in a higher social position than you, and you don't want to offend them, but they're just not getting the point. "Your honor, with all due respect, I don't think you're considering everything in context, here." But usually, it's used to be condescending to people who you think are just full of . It's a subtle way of saying "with all due respect...(and you are due none.)" And no one is deserving of NO respect.
