I eat this every day for breakfast. It's super healthy, and easily gets me to lunch. Here are the basic ingredients, although the toppings change quite regularly. Steel Cut Oats 1/2 C Filtered Water 1 C Brown Sugar 2 Tsp Cinnamon ~2 Tsp Dried Cranberries ~1/8 C Sliced/Diced Raw Almonds 8-9

Start with the water, and get it boiling in a stainless steel pot. The whole point to steel cut oats is to avoid the mushy and somewhat tasteless rolled oatmeal that people usually use. Adding the oats to the boiling water maximizes the texture - it's soft, but just short of crunchy.

While stirring the oats with a wooden spoon, start slicing and dicing the almonds. I use a rough cut. I like the almond chunks fairly big and crunchy. The almonds add a lot of protein. I usually add raw sunflower seeds too, but I ran out.

Keep the heat on High while cooking the oats. Keep stirring to prevent sticking. It will bubble up and then settle down.

Cook the oats for 3-5 minutes until it reaches the desired consistency. I like mine thick enough to hold its shape when pushed back by the spoon.

Transfer to a bowl, and put the pot to soak.

Add the brown sugar first. This is important. You want the sugar to melt over the top of the oats, and it won't if you put it on top of the cinnamon.

NOW add the cinnamon. I use a lot.

Now add the toppings. The possibilities are almost endless. Here, I'm using dried cranberries. I use raisins a lot too. Sometimes I add linseed oil as well.

And finish with the raw almonds.

This was fantastic, much better than the Quaker brand oats I grew up eating as a kid. Going to have to get some cinnamon
