I'm here, I'm HERE!! Waiting at CLT airport for a flight to Atlanta, then a connection to LAX. Won't be home for 9+ hours. zzzzz.... ew We're driving to SDCC this year. I hate airports (don't mind flying- just the process), and while it will take longer, the freedom it offers is worth it to me. Dealing with airports reminds me of when my mom and step-dad invited me on an Alaskan cruise several years ago. It was the first cruise for any of us, so the process was extensive, and sorta exhausting. Just as you board the ship, they snap a photo of you with a background. Bad timing. I look at the photo now and cringe. None of us felt like smiling, and we all had an expression saying, "I can't believe you're making us stop AGAIN before we can relax!" Now if they had done that at the end of the cruise as we departed, we'd have been smiling ear to ear as it was a BLAST!!! Easily the most enjoyable vacation I have EVER had. I truly felt as though my enjoyment was their top priority from start to finish. Not something one can say much for anything offered in this country. Norwegian Cruise Lines rock!

Not as many as I brought.
Creators, sitting right there, me, books ready to be signed...and they didn't.
Oh well, that's life.

The "CGC fee"? Yes indeed. "$5 for everyone...except you dirty slabbers, that'll be $20." That sucks. I have a low grade set of 'WILLOW' that I plan to give my eldest granddaughter, Elora, when she's old enough. If I can get Jo Duffy or Bob Hall to sign them first, that'd be great! I keep my eyes open for uber grade copies of #1 with the idea that I could get it SS'd. Not a must, as I can't even guarantee she'll care about the raws , but it would (ironically) cheapen the experience if I had to pay more for it, especially if I get it inscribed specifically to her. That would suggest more than "principle" behind these decisions. If she were to ask what it was like meeting the people who worked on the story, I'd unlikely include that they thought I'd just sell the books. I have no idea if they do this, I'm just using it as an example that many/most/all of these creators who assume this and use it as the reason for the charge don't seem to consider those who appreciate their work, and want it in a slab. I realize and agree it isn't their business one way or another, but they seem to feel it is- If they're going to act based on how they feel on this matter, they should at least consider all aspects of their decisions, and think about the lasting effects. For example, fewer books out there with their signatures. I don't know if any of them even think/care about such things. Probably just the ones who don't sign much

Seems I've known about "Kilroy" as long as I can remember. I think it was likely something I first saw in Mad Magazine or a Mad paperback. It was just one of those recurring things that would fill in the background.
