link How many times have we seen this? CGC would literally write love letters praising Kim Jong-un if he submitted enough books to them. And if he showed up on their forum and said something incriminating, they would dutifully remove those posts to protect his business and their revenue stream. For the progressive anti-corporate political faction, this evil company proves your point on a daily basis with its blatant lack of concern for anything but its bottom line.

I have wondered about that. I don’t have numbers, but just in theory wouldn’t a small percentage of “regular” collectors (like me) out of everyone who reads the boards(a few hundred each post/thread?) submitting books make up any revenue lost from alienating or losing one bad dealer? Forum members and lurkers must be such a small drop in the hobby bucket that nothing we would do collectively even moves the needle for CGC (or CBCS).

Congrats Buzz! I hope you avoid the curse. Some boardies just disappear after getting the award, never to be heard from again (HarveySwick). Others are severely moderated (oakman29) You'll be fine.

They tend to protect dealers (a lot of people talk about this). Probably not just because of the submission volume, but also because dealers tend to be in contact with more people than collectors and eBay sellers, so there's a downstream effect. The fact that they partner up with the latest YouTubers chit chatting about comics with a couple thousand viewers (which is nothing) speaks volumes.

Don’t like it, but I get how that works.

I like to PM Kav and let him know that the Forumites of the year enjoy an area of the boards to post in exclusive to us. We also talk about Kav a lot.

Yeah, who was the BOTY that went total Darkseid after winning? Nerfherder? Was he the originator of the curse?

Aside from my not liking the custom character labels, is the problem with the TTA #68 more with the submitter and not with CGC? Not sure how CGC’s deal with Marvel works, but I was under the impression the submitter got to choose the label, so how do we know that didn’t happen in this instance? Or, is that the problem itself, the customer choosing label details?
Also “Jennifer F” might not have known about the custom label issues if she’s strictly a PMG person. Not a great excuse, but she might’ve been out of her element and didn’t believe the question needed passed along to someone else. I don’t know her, but don’t believe she deserves too much flak.

Or, is that the problem itself, the customer choosing label details? You are correct. I double checked, and CGC states, " The labels can be selected for any Marvel book that is submitted for CGC’s grading or re-holder services through the online submission form." I think this is beyond stupid, but apparently it's allowed. Also “Jennifer F” might not have known about the custom label issues if she’s strictly a PMG person. Not a great excuse, but she might’ve been out of her element and didn’t believe the question needed passed along to someone else. I don’t know her, but don’t believe she deserves too much flak. If CGC was really fixing this problem, every single one of their representatives would be aware of it. I don't believe CGC is fixing anything, so I'm not surprised that two different representatives give two completely different messages on the subject.
