Most often I prefer the original recording of a song to covers, even if by superior artists. However, now and then there is an exception- My top example would be Blinded By The Light. Manfred Mann's version is so much better than Springsteen's, Bruce should have signed over creative rights to MM. IMO Sometimes a cover is so different that it's hard to compare the songs. In a sense, they're equally good. Other examples? Include videos if you want Here's an example of songs I more or less like equally well. S&G's original version, with its harmonies and drums, add elements Disturbed's does not, though Disturbed's David Draiman's vocals are far more gripping. Depending on my mood, I might prefer one over the other.
