Make sure you inspect what you buy. This Fantastic Four #50 CGC 9.0 was first sold on HA (7/22/18 for $1,140), and then resold on ComicLink (9/26/18 for $1,644). As you can see from the photo, the pages have shifted down away from the cover which is now detached from both staples. These photos show just how poorly designed this holder actually is. Not enough pressure to prevent Shaken Comic Syndrome, but enough to cause massive newton rings and keep the book held in its crushed condition after it slammed against the left side of the core. linkCertification Information Certification #: 1951664003 Title: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Issue: 1 Issue Date: 11/18 Issue Year: 2018 Publisher: D.C. Old style case with SCS. See how the cover gets caught between the tray and the lid of the core? Part of the cover gets bent back, the other part is caught, and tears are created. linkCertification Information Certification #: 0096626010 Title: Giant-Size X-Men Issue: 1 Issue Date: Summer 1975 Issue Year: 1975 Publisher: Marvel Comics Grade: 8.5 Total Graded At: 728 Page Quality: OFF-WHITE TO WHITE Grade Date: 11/13/2006Category: Modern Art Comments: Len Wein story Dave Cockrum art Gil Kane & Dave Cockrum cover Key Comments: 1st appearance of the new X-Men, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus & Thunderbird. 2nd full appearance of Wolverine.

If you buy a graded comic, always inspect the book inside the slab for damage. This torn and creased book is no longer a 9.0 and never will be again. Since neither the seller nor the buyer seemed to notice it, it's pretty easy to see that people who don't know how to grade are buying the slab rather than the book inside. It's sad really, since learning to grade and applying it to the hobby is one of things that makes comic collecting so much fun. By the way, all CGC cases suffer from this problem, not just the new ones. If you ship a slabbed book through the mail, there is risk of SCS. This particular example is an old-style holder from 2008. eBay Listing (163739773009, Ended:Dec 17, 2019 , 12:35PM)
